CLAYTON PEARSON
June 7, 1933 to May 29, 2017
Clayton Peter Pearson of Bow Island, beloved husband of the late Shirley Stromsmoe, passed away peacefully Monday, May 29th, 2017 at the age of 83 years. Clayton spent his entire life on the prairies, raising his family in the Manyberries area. He loved cattle ranching and enjoyed a life raising horses and working the land. Clayton was a very generous and caring man, that would open his heart and home to everyone. He had personality, smile and presence that would light up a room. Clayton was an amazing father and loving grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory one son, Darcy; one daughter, Lori; and three granddaughters Britni, Krista and Ashley, that he dearly loved; and his sister, Betty. Clayton was predeceased by his sisters, May and Evelyn; and brother, Raymond. At Clayton's request, no funeral service will be held. The family invites friends to his interment at PENDANT D'OREILLE CEMETERY, 15 kms south of Orion on Highway 501, on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. where he will be laid to rest with the love of his life Shirley Stromsmoe. A Come and Go Celebration of Clayton's Life will be held at the ORION EVANGELICAL FREE CHURCH, Orion, Alberta on Saturday, July 15th, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. Clayton's family would like to thank all for the care he received at the Bow Island Health Centre. EDWARD 'EDDIE' BECKER
April 3, 1923 ~ March 20, 2017
After a long and hard fought battle with cancer, Edward ‘Eddie’ Becker passed away with family by his side while in the loving care of the staff at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice on Monday, March 20, 2017, at the age of 93 years. Eddie was predeceased by his first wife, Alice (nee Schlinker); his second wife, Kay (nee Clark) as well as one daughter, Brenda (Jack) Dietzen. He leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Dennis Edward Becker of Medicine Hat and Albert (Bernadette) Clark of Nova Scotia; six grandchildren, Donald Edward Becker of Cold Lake, AB., Daniel Becker of Edmonton, AB., Kelly (Andrew) Higgins and their daughter, Melissa Higgins of Strathmore, AB., Darren (Krista) Clark and their two children, Patrick and MacKenzie of Nova Scotia, Judy Dietzen of Red Deer, AB. and Tracey (Jim) Beanblossom of Rocky Mountain House, AB. Eddie’s memory will live on in the hearts of his brother, Harvey (Jo) Becker of Calgary, AB.; sister, Violet Aberle of Taber, AB.; brothers-in-law, Ralph (Mat) Schlinker of Medicine Hat and Roy Schlinker of Vernon, BC.; sister-in-law, Olive (Lance) Brost of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edward Becker was born to Jacob and Katherine Becker in Schuler, AB. on April 3, 1923, which is where he was raised and educated. He joined the Army during WWII and circumstances at that time did not allow for Eddie to serve overseas. He later moved on to work for the CPR, a career that lasted the next 23 years. Following his retirement from the CPR, Eddie worked the next 23 years as a custodian for the Public School Board. Many will remember 'Mr. Becker’ from his days at Vincent Massey School. From 1975 through until his retirement in 1998, he always remained popular with both the students and the staff there. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who had the privilege of knowing him. Special thanks to Eddie’s friends, management and staff at The Wellington for their support and friendship during his years there. Family also wish to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the exceptional staff of St. Joseph’s Home for the loving care and support provided to Eddie during his stay. A Celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, June 19, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery with a time of fellowship and refreshments thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. (Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at
