1937 ~ HAROLD MacIVER ~ 2017

Harold Douglas MacIver, known to many as “Hobo Hal”, passed away on Sunday, May 7th, 2017 at the age of 80 years. Harold leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Florence; four daughters, Anita (Doug) Overs, Sherry MacIver, Dawna (Derrick) Dooley, and Lori (Cal) Isley; three grandchildren, Cole, Joshua, and Maison; as well as numerous relatives and friends. Harold was predeceased by his parents; and his son, Harold “Hal” MacIver. Harold was born and raised in Gillis Cove on Cape Breton Island. He married and had a family before moving to Medicine Hat in February 1994. Harold then met Florence and they were married spending their 20 years together in Redcliff. Harold was a Mason and a Shriner as well as an Elder at St. John’s Presbyterian Church. He was a true Scotsman and an active hunter and fisherman who enjoyed camping. The Funeral Service will be held at ST. JOHN’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 504 – 2nd Street SE, on Thursday, May 11th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Bob Cruickshank and Reverend Dr. Nancy Cocks, co-officiating.
Those attending the service are asked to bring a Diet Pepsi to toast a farewell to Harold.

CECIL LUSCOMBE

May 9, 1931 – May 7, 2017

Mr. Cecil Luscombe, beloved husband of Mrs. Rose Luscombe, passed away at the Riverview Care Centre on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the age of 85 years. Cecil will be lovingly remembered by his children, Dwight (Audrey) Luscombe and their children, Sheldon (Rochelle) Luscombe and their children, Carter and Carley; Tannis (Jay) Jans and their children, Cassie, Jace, Ty; Deanna (Tyson) Robinson and their children, Reese and Kayla; Garth (Mary-Anne) Luscombe and their children, Chad (Carrie) Luscombe and their children, Emma, Anna and Jordan; Tyler Luscombe; Kendra (Boyd) Gravel and their children, Kiana, Liam, Jayden; Dale (Debbie) Luscombe and their children, Derek Luscombe and his daughter, Kymara; Dustin (Chelsea) Luscombe and their daughter, Andi; Fay McGregor and her children, Kaylynn (Talon) Starrak and their children, Tenley and Brynn; Braden McGregor; Donna Engel (Doug) and her children, Tiffany (Jaret) Pomeroy and their children, Carson, Kaidence and Austin; Andraes Engel and her son, Kingston; Sheila Olson and her children, Amanda (Jessie) Roberts; Brandon Olson; brothers, Alfred and Bert as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Cecil was predeceased by his wife, Rose; parents, William and Nellie; son-in-law, Jim Olson; great-granddaughter, Abigail Roberts and siblings, Douglas, Ilene, Nelly, Mary, Phylis, Dorothy, Bill, Ray and Art. Cecil was born in Lemberg, SK., on May 9, 1931 and attended Lemberg School. He had eleven siblings and his nickname growing up was “Lucky”. Cecil married Rose Kollmann on April 18, 1952 and together moved to Redcliff to raise their six children. Following the move to Redcliff, he worked on the construction of the Medicine Hat Hospital and the Medicine Hat power plant. He then worked at the Redcliff Dominion Glass Factory for 35 years, retiring from there in 1988. The family attended Gordon Memorial Church where Cecil helped with the maintenance on the church and served for years on the church board. Woodworking was one of his many passions. One of the side tables Cecil built is currently being used at the Riverview Care Centre. Cecil loved reminiscing about his childhood and adventures on the farm. As a young man growing up in Saskatchewan, Cecil was a hired hand to many of the neighboring farms. He enjoyed vacationing with his children and fishing with his friends and family. Cecil was a caring and loving husband to Rose and a role model for his children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. A Celebration of Cecil’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 12, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant Gerry Getz officiating. Interment will follow at Redcliff Cemetery with a reception thereafter in the Cook Southland Reception Facility. GLEED

Colin Gleed of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at the age of 65 years, beloved husband of the late Marlys Gleed . He leaves to cherish his memory, two children, Colleen (Darryl) Floberg and Nicole (Abraham Deng) Gleed; seven grandchildren, Jarrett, David, Markom, Savannah, Guevara, Aubrielle and Hawaya; his brothers Stuart (Liz) Gleed and Charles (May) Gleed; his sisters Jean (Douglas) Shaw and Anne (Robert) Campbell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Jean Gleed; his wife, Marlys Gleed, and one grandson, Lucas Floberg on February 3, 2012. Colin was born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 3, 1952 to parents Robert and Jean. He came to Canada in 1972 with the British Military, and met Marlys (Dahlke) and shortly after they married in 1974. Colin immigrated to Canada in 1975, where he began his 30 year career at CFB Suffield. He was actively involved in the youth bowling program while the girls were young. He was a coach to many kids and was always cheering them on through every tournament. As well, he volunteered countless hours to various organizations throughout the City for many years. Colin loved travelling, fishing, watching curling, but most of all spending time with his grandkids. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 12, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
