1959 ~ SHARON WERNER ~ 2017

Sharon Werner, age 57 years, passed away after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer on Friday, April 28th, 2017 in Medicine Hat, Alberta. She was born in 1959 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to her mother, Anne and her late father, Barlow Christensen. She grew up in Park Forest, Illinois with her older sister, Susan and younger brother, Kirk, sister, Marcy, brother, Joe and late brother, Tom. She later attended university at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she graduated with a BS in Chemical Engineering in 1985. During her college years, Sharon took 18 months off to serve a full-time mission in Paris, France for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In 1985, she married Jim Werner and moved to Parsons, Kansas, then in 1987 they moved to Corner Brook, Newfoundland and finally settled in 1993 in Medicine Hat where Jim continues to live. Sharon is succeeded by her six children and their families, Anne Werner, Kara Werner, Chris (Lexi) Werner, Tom (Chelsea) Werner, Kelly (Matt) Towsey and Jordyn Werner; two grandchildren, Ellie and TJ; her mother, Anne Christensen; two brothers, Kirk (Cathy) Christensen and Joe (Rachel) Christensen; two sisters, Susan (Layne) Jolley and Marcy (Scott) Hansen; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her father, Barlow Christensen; and one brother, Tom Christensen. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, 1865 Division Avenue NE, Relief Society Room, on Saturday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. The Funeral Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, on Saturday, May 6th, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Mike McClung officiating. ALBERT W. ANDERSON

1918 ~ 2017
Mr. Albert Wilhelm Anderson, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Ruth Anderson, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Camrose, Alberta on Monday, May 1, 2017, at the age of 98 years. Albert Wilhelm Anderson was born the youngest of four children to Carl Anderson on the homestead in Jenner on September 9, 1918. He left school at Grade 6 to work, driving 12 head of horses on a breaking plow while working for various other ranchers as well. He saved his money, bought some land and started farming with his brother which worked well as they could share equipment. He was introduced to his future wife Ruth by the postmasters Frank and Marg at the post office. She had been hired to be the Principal of Jenner school. Ruth died in a car accident the year after their son Jim was born. Albert farmed in the Jenner district until 1992. He later farmed again with son Jim at Daysland from 1999 to 2007. Albert loved to farm and ranch, crediting ''hard work to sweat the poisons out” as the reason for his long life. He enjoyed the marvels of God’s creations, studying animals and people. Albert enjoyed traveling and the reconnection to his Swedish family: Eskilsson, Karlson and others. He is survived by his son, Jim (Betty) Anderson; 2 nephews, Melvin (Betty) Fieldberg and Arnold (Lorna) Fieldberg; great-nieces, Alison and Marni; nephew, Ken (Millie) Picotte and niece, Gail Picotte. He is also survived by many other nephews and nieces. Albert was predeceased by his wife Ruth, 2 sisters, Lillian and Ellen and one brother, Walter. Gladys Hodgson of Bow Island, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at the age of 105 years, beloved wife of the late Jerold Hodgson. McGILLIVRAY

Elva Agnes McGillivray of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017, at the age of 101 years, beloved wife of the late John “Cuyler” McGillivray. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Audrey Leith of Medicine Hat; one grandson, George (Tammy) Leith; her great grandchildren, Ashley (Jeremy), Megan, Shayna, Alexis and Payton. She was predeceased by her parents, Gertrude and Joseph Wright; her husband Cuyler on December 27, 1997; one son Wayne in 2001; two brothers, Malville in infancy and Herbert Wright; four sisters, Doreen and Mae in infancy, Helen Crawford and Mabel Henderson and by her son in law William “Bill” Leith in 1998. Elva was born on March 24, 1916 in Adderley, Quebec to Gertrude and Joseph Wright. On September 27, 1934 she married Cuyler and on September 10, 1935 then welcomed their first child Wayne. Then came the arrival of their daughter Audrey on July 20, 1938. They moved to several different little towns in Quebec before moving to Alberta and settling in Irvine where they resided until Cuyler’s passing. Elva and Wayne then moved to Medicine Hat in 1998. Once Wayne passed away in 2001 Elva moved in with Audrey and lived with her until 2014 when she went into Riverview Care Center. Elva loved knitting, baking and all animals especially her beloved dog Candy. She found comfort in reading her bible and was a very caring woman who was passionate about many charities. She loved spending time with her family and cherished her moments spent with her grandkids, great grandkids and extended family. She always had a great sense of humor and a way of making everyone laugh. She will always be loved and missed but will remain in many hearts with beautiful memories. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev Helen Reid officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
