1943 ~ FAYE FUHRMANN ~ 2017
Faye Fuhrmann, beloved wife of Erich Fuhrmann, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Thursday, January 19th, 2017. She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Joanne Fuhrmann (Ken Wright) of Medicine Hat, Kevin Fuhrmann (Hayley Poberznick) of Medicine Hat, and Krista (Joey) Pettyjohn of Redcliff; five grandchildren, Hope, Riley, Camrynn, Jordyn, and Payton; two brothers, Dwight (Betty-Anne) Selke and Kurt (Norma) Selke; a sister-in-law, Betty Fuhrmann; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Faye was predeceased by her parents, Kurt and Dorothy Selke; and her brother, Gerald Selke. Faye was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm near Maier, Saskatchewan. During Faye’s high school years, she held the provincial shot put record. She later met the love of her life, Erich, in 1963 and was married in August of 1964 in Carlyle, Saskatchewan. They went on to start their family in Estevan, Saskatchewan and moved to Redcliff, Alberta in 1974. Faye played a huge role in each of her children’s lives. She was everything from a hockey mom, president of the Redcliff Figure Skating Club, and a baseball coach. Her door was always open to anyone and everyone. More recently she loved to spend countless hours with her granddaughters. Donald Edward Chartrand, 57, of Medicine Hat, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 19, 2017. Don is survived by Sheila, his friend and wife for 36 years; daughter Lindsay (Taz) Kassou, and son Jeremy. He also leaves to cherish his memory, his brothers, Bob (Cindy) Chartrand of Medicine Hat, Peter (Lisa) Chartrand of Calgary, Bill (Lana) Chartrand, and Robin (Kari Fisher) Chartrand all of Medicine Hat; his aunt, Daisy Legere of Medicine Hat as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Jean Chartrand and his mother-in-law, Anna Cameron. Mrs. Florence Doreen Juhas, beloved wife of the late Steve Juhas, passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Monday, January 23, 2017, at the age of 79 years. Doreen’s memory will be forever cherished in the hearts of her three children; Robert Kindred and his daughter, Migon; Terri (Denis) Jackson and their son, Alex; Laurie Baron and her children, Brittney and Nicole; great-grandson, Liam Baron; granddaughter, Coralee and her daughter, Audrey; sister, Elaine Derrickson and brother, Ken (Marg) Reynolds; special friend, Joe Greenstein as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Doreen was predeceased by her husband, Steve; parents, Pete and Edna; son, Alan Kindred; sister, Pearl Unser and granddaughter, Ashley Baron. Doreen loved music, scrapbooking and going for coffee with friends. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren who were very important to her. LARRY KNOLL
March 16, 1953 ~ January 20, 2017
Larry Dale Knoll went to be with His God, peacefully at home on Friday, January 20, 2017, at the age of 63 years following a lengthy and courageous battle with Cancer and Kidney Disease. Along with his wife of 18 plus years Kelly (nee Collins), Larry will be remembered as the loving and devoted father (Dad) to two children, G. Michael B. Collins (Christie Myles) of Medicine Hat, AB and Jacob William Heinrichs of Swift Current, SK. And then along came Brett and Sabrina! …and in time, his treasured granddaughter, Paige Audra Hemingson!! Larry also leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters, Evelyn (Clarence) Young, Rose (Robert) Tomkins, twin Linda (Barry) Mildenberger; his brothers, Ken (Anne) Knoll, James Knoll and his sister-in-law, Jeanette Knoll as well as several Godchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and their families. Larry was predeceased by his father, Lorenz Knoll in 1984; mother Margaret (Zeigler) in 1986; brothers, Jack (Jeanette) Knoll in 2009 and baby Markus in 1936 (infancy). Larry was born on March 16, 1953 in Regina and raised in Sedley, SK. After graduation, he began his career initially in Seismic and then Pipelined for numerous companies most notably Schindle and Bazin, Hat Pipeline, Flint, and Big Country up until his passing. Larry met the love of his life, Kelly in 1994 in Simmie, SK and eventually they made Medicine Hat their home along with Michael, Jacob and Kelly's Mom, Helen Collins. In 8/8/98 (so Larry wouldn't forget) they were married in the gazebo that Helen built in their backyard. A year later, they became the proud owners and operators of Sharp Shooter's Billiard Club. The pool table has been racked in Heaven! Larry's last days were spent quietly and comfortably at home with his beloved cats, Jack and Molly. On January 20, 2017 they were celebrating a late New Year's Eve along with Larry and Lois Dillman. He was even able to enjoy a couple of Old Mil's while Kelly and Lois prepared their favourite hors d'oeuvres! The service celebrating Larry’s life will be held at Holy Family Parish, 1451 Strachan Road S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 28, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. with Deacon Robert Risling officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshments will immediately follow at the Southside Events Centre, 4 Strachan Court S.E., Medicine Hat. Michael (1936-2016)
Anneke (1937-2017)
Michael Nutz, born in Romania on November 23, 1936, passed away suddenly on December 9, 2016 in Kelowna, BC. He was the youngest of six children, born to Adolph and Louisa Nutz. A painter by trade he worked in construction in Medicine Hat before moving to Kelowna with his young family in 1964.
Anneke Nutz, nee Nederveen, was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands on September 5, 1937, and passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 20, 2017 in Kelowna, BC. Ann was the third child of John and Jenny Nederveen. She worked as a lab technician at the Five Roses and Ogilvie Flour Mills in Medicine Hat and at Sun-Rype Products in Kelowna.
Mike and Ann were married at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Medicine Hat on November 22, 1958 and had recently celebrated a happy 58th anniversary. In their retirement Mike and Ann spent many happy years golfing, playing tennis, RVing, skiing and volunteering.
Mike and Ann are survived by their children Karen (Jeff) Austin of Kelowna and Michelle (Ron) Baart of Victoria, five grandchildren and one great-grandson. They also leave to mourn Ann’s siblings, Hans (Pen) of Edmonton, Mieke (Dick Jonker) of The Netherlands and Paul of Medicine Hat.
The memorial service for Michael was held December 19, 2016 at the Springfield Funeral Home. The memorial service for Anneke will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 28, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC.
