1919 ~ BIFFART ~ 2016
Edward Biffart, beloved husband of Louise Biffart, passed away Thursday, November 24, 2016 at the age of 96 years at home in his caring retirement community of Masterpiece. Edward also leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Sharon Martens (Rod) of Calgary; and a son, Darwin (Wanda) Biffart; four grandchildren, Travis (Mandy) Martens of Langley, BC, Rachael (Rodney) Hinz of Calgary, Trent (Lise) Martens of Calgary, Jessica (Aaron) Dewarle of Gabriola, BC; six great grandchildren, Kierra, Kyla, Ella, Spencer, Leo and Seb. Edward was born in Woodrow, Saskatchewan on November 25, 1919. He married Louise Fauser on October 20, 1943. He was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Christina Biffart; and siblings Sam, Charles, Charlotte, Anna, Bertha, Albert and Ruben. Edward loved the farm where he earned his living, choral music which he enjoyed conducting in church and for Hillcrest Christian College, travelling by motorhome, fishing, golfing and boating. He showed his great sense of humour while he engaged with friends, family and those who cared for him. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE on Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at CRESTWOOD MENNONITE BRETHREN CHURCH, 2348 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. A reception and luncheon will follow at 3:30 p.m. in the Terrace Room at Chinook Village, 2801 – 13 Avenue SE. A private interment will take place at Hillside Cemetery. Jean Thomson, beloved wife of Thomas "Tom" Thomson of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, November 23rd, 2016 at the age of 89 years. Jean also leaves to cherish her memory one son, David (Valarie) Thomson; one son-in-law, Dan Rigby; three grandchildren, Eric (Andrea) Thomson, Adam (Victoria) Thomson and Ian Rigby; three great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Allister and Bridgette. Jean was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Joan McLeod; and daughter, Donna Rigby. Jean was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 3rd, 1927. Jean’s mother passed away at Jean’s birth and as a result, Jean was raised by her father, grandparents, aunts and stepmother. She was educated in both Winnipeg, Manitoba, and Kenora, Ontario. At the age of 16, Jean began work in the offices of Ashdown Hardware. On June 18th of 1947, Jean married Tom Thomson. They moved to Calgary in October of 1949, and then relocated to Medicine Hat in April of 1954. Jean enjoyed sewing and knitting. She was an avid curler and golfer. Jean enjoyed to travel around the world, especially to Scotland, to search out her family history in the Isle of Skye. The family invites you to attend a reception in Jean’s honour at the Paradise Valley Par 3 Golf Club, 90 Gehring Road SW, at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29th, 2016. Bruce Alexander Marriott passed away on Monday, November 21, 2016, at the age of 67 years. He leaves to cherish his memory one daughter Jaylene (Robert) Drimes; four grandchildren, Chloe, Hunter, Devon and Sky; two brothers, Seamus (Theresa) Marriott and Brian (Barb) Marriott; two sisters, Penny (Ben) Lanz and Mora Marriott; a sister-in-law Caroline Marriott; his special friend, Gail McLaren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Margaret and Bernard Marriott and one brother Shawn Marriott. Bruce was a simple man with a big heart. He spent most of his working years caring for the people of Medicine Hat at both, Hillside and Prairie View cemeteries. A Come and Go Social will be held at the Whiskey Creek Reception Center, (937 13th Street SW) on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Please dress casually.
