1950 ~ RUSSELL ~ 2016

Garry Calvin Russell, beloved husband of Joan Russell of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, November 21st, 2016 at the age of 65 years. Garry also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Sandra Russell and Dawn (Nathan) Shorten; his mother, Emma Russell; four grandchildren, Josh, Jack, Olivia and Madyson Shorten; one sister, Carrol (Dwight) Knox; one sister-in-law, Vivien Fiesel; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Garry was predeceased by his father, Calvin Russell; and one brother, Dale Russell. Garry was born on December 3rd, 1950 in Brooks, Alberta. He married Joan Rawleigh on March 24th, 1973 in Tilley, Alberta. Garry frequently enjoyed a game of golf with his golf buddies. He loved spending time with his grandkids and will be missed dearly by his family and many friends. Michele Elizabeth Eisenbarth, beloved wife of Gordon Eisenbarth of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, November 20th, 2016 at the age of 50 years. Michele also leaves to cherish her memory three children, Alex, Mathew, and Andrea, all of Medicine Hat; three brothers, Bruce (Delores) Vine of Redcliff, Dale (Debbie) Vine of Carstairs, and V Murray (Wendy) Vine of Medicine Hat; two sisters, Carol Nieman (Dave Lee) of Medicine Hat, Mary-Lou (Luciano) Dalla-Longa of Calgary; dear friends, Pat and Chuck Bouman; sister-in-law, Samantha Hunter (Ralph Stuut); numerous nieces and nephews; as well as Gordon’s siblings, Terry (Theresa) Eisenbarth and Karen (Wayne) Law. ANSON, DOUGLAS WILLIAM

December 30, 1955- November 17, 2016
Doug passed away peacefully in Hospital on Thursday, November 17, 2016 following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Doug was born in Medicine Hat and received his early education in Ralston, Alberta and further education in Calgary following a move there in 1968. He received his high school education at DR. E. P. Scarlett High School and entered the Engineering program at University of Calgary following Graduation. Doug received his BSc in Electrical Engineering in 1977 and started his career with Trans Alta Utilities that year. The effects of MS forced him into permanent disability in 1994. He leaves to mourn his death, his father, William; mother, Lorrine and brother, Donald Anson and Don's children, Brett and Chelsea who so loved their uncle. He also leaves his two loving children, Paul and Nicole Anson all of Calgary as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins in Alberta, particularly in the Calgary and Medicine Hat areas and also in the Kelowna area of British Columbia. His devoted parents and brother, Don who so supported Doug in his journey with MS and his family wish to thank the staff at the Peter Lougheed Centre, and the ICU in particular, for the excellent and Professional effort in assisting Doug in his stay there. Thanks are also extended to the staff and Management at Doug’s Home, the Nickel House, for the care and compassion that was always given Doug while in their care. Many others who came in and provided specific and special services, they know who they are, to improve Doug’s everyday quality of life. A private family gathering will be held at a later date. GLEN KINCHEN ROSA

1932-2016
Glen Kinchen Rosa passed away peacefully at Medicine Hat Hospital on November 18, 2016.
Glen is pre-deceased by his beloved wife Irma, their daughter Carla, brothers Warren (Annie); Jack (Lorraine); Dale (Dorothy); and brother-in-law Gilbert Staven.
Glen is lovingly remembered by his sister Audrey Staven, son-in-law Leonard Smith (Joy), grandchildren Samantha, Mason, Jacob, Benjamin, Skylar, and Noah. Glen will be missed and remembered by his many nieces, nephews and his lifelong friends.
Glen was born in Kincaid, Saskatchewan on August 25, 1932. When he was about 12 he quit organized school then graduated from the school of Hard Knocks and went on to be a very successful businessman. Glen felt honoured to be a life long member of the Masonic Lodge, plus memberships in the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge and the Elks Club.
Upon retirement Glen and Irma's passions were traveling and genealogy which lead to meeting new found family members. Glen loved playing bridge and hosting LARGE parties especially in Arizona where he loved to spend his winters. Family and friends were very important to Glen and he made an effort to stay connected with everyone – young and old.
Memorial donations can be made to The Alberta Lung Association and acknowledgement cards can go to Lisa Staven-Nelson (they have the address).

HEDWIG (HEDY) STABLER

June 12, 1928 – Nov 1, 2016
God granted Hedy's last wish. She passed unexpectedly and peacefully In her sleep. She leaves to mourn her husband of 63 years Raymond (Ray), daughter Grace, grandson Jesse (Chrystal) and great granddaughter Eliana. Her family in Germany, sister-in-law Anna, sister Walli (Alfred) nieces Waltraud, Jutta, nephews Manfred and Albert.
She was predeceased by two sons, Wesley and Ricky. Parents Johann and Elisa Krasson and brother Alfred.
Born in Reschkanofka, Bessarairen Hedy lived in various countries and a mixture of cultures. She lived through bandit attacks, planes, explosives and gunfire. She learnt survival tactics and the use of gas masks. Canada to her was the land of plenty. In 1952, she boarded a ship to Halifax, rode the train West to Leader, SK. She began her employment at the old hospital. She met the love of her life, Ray. They married on June 25, 1953.
They made their life on the family farm at Burstall, SK. Hedy worked hard in the fields, had her vegetable and flower gardens, butchered chickens, milked cows and sold Avon to supplement the family income. She enjoyed hosting students and travellers from around the world at the Tiger Lily Vacation Farm. She made the best Kuchen and donuts. She raised a beautiful family with her love and support.
She pursued her passion of the Arts and cultures throughout her life. She loved painting, hand-formed pottery and writing. She was a member of the Medicine Hat Pottery and Writers Clubs. She won many awards and recognitions. Hedy and Ray enjoyed retirement travelling in their RV, bus tours, cruises and trips to her homeland of Germany.
Hedy and Ray moved to Saskatoon in 2014 to be closer to Grace. They were welcomed into the assisted living community. They enjoyed their independence and new friends. Their outings to the theatre, river cruises and German Club brought them pure enjoyment. Hedy lived a very full life—a life well-lived is a precious gift.
Service will be held at Hillcrest Church in Medicine Hat Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 1:00 PM with Rev. George Brandt officiating. TARNASKY

Pearl Doreen Tarnasky of Medicine Hat passed away on Sunday, November 20, 2016, at the age of 70 years, beloved wife of the late Percy Tarnasky. She leaves to cherish her memory one sister, Daisy Legere; two brothers-in-law, Wayne (Shirley) Tarnasky of Cadomin and O'Brien Tarnasky (Marion Madge) of Elkwater; her niece and closest friend, Meme Gosselin as well as numerous other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Dave and Margaret Morrison; her husband, Percy on March 31, 2016; her brother, Dempsey Bliss and three sisters, Dolly Weiss, Jean Chartrand, and Nancy Bliss.
Pearl lived her entire life in Medicine Hat. She married Percy Tarnasky in 1967. They spent many years camping and fishing. For years Pearl and her sister Nancy played bingo and she always enjoyed the company of other players. Piege was Pearl's pet pigeon who gave her 18 years of entertainment and enjoyment. There was never a dull moment with him in their house. Pearl was a kind and caring person who will be missed by her friends and family.
A memorial service for both Pearl and Percy will be announced at a later date.
