Margaret Anna Fischer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, November 6th, 2016 at the age of 82 years. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her children, Ernest (Helen) Fischer, Kathy Jergens, and Irene Fischer; her grandchildren, Michael Fischer, Roy (Sandy) Fischer, Ernest Fischer Jr., Clinton Fischer, Mellissia (Roje) Foley, Jason Vandenberg and Curtis Vandenberg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her ex-husband, Walter Fischer; her daughter, Julie Vanderberg; two brothers, Edward Stickel and Dave Stickel; and one sister, Doreen Gardiner. 1984 ~ LOUGHREN ~ 2016

Venesa Leeanne Loughren of Medicine Hat, beloved daughter of Deanna Loughren, passed away on Thursday, November 3rd, 2016 at the age of 32 years. Venesa leaves to cherish her memory two sisters, Cara Loughren of Medicine Hat and Leslie Boutkan (Brian) of Calgary; Uncle Larry (Rhonda) Loughren of Lampman, Saskatchewan; Auntie Melinda Loughren of Medicine Hat; as well as numerous cousins from Alberta and Saskatchewan. Venesa was predeceased by her grandparents, Les and Gwen Loughren; her cousin, Landon Loughren; and Auntie Marcia Knelson. Venesa was born on April 4th, 1984 in Swift Current and was raised there as well as McCord and Moose Jaw. She completed her grade 12 in Medicine Hat where she lived until the time of her passing. Venesa loved kids and being with family. She was the life of the party and always kept things lively. Her interests included shopping, playing cards, dancing and social media. Venesa liked to crochet, color, and watch movies to relax. Her passion was the little children for whom she always had time. Venesa enjoyed traveling and getting her nails done. The past four years were difficult with health challenges and she was recently diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease. Venesa will be remembered for her contagious smile, kind heart, big laugh and, if she loved you, she always had your back. 1990 ~ EDEN ~ 2016

Bombardier Blaine Michael Eden, beloved husband of Chelsey Eden of Ralston, Alberta, passed away on Monday, October 31st, 2016 at the age of 26 years. Blaine also leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Payten Eden; his parents, Michael Eden (Melissa) and Heather Steckly (Bryon); two half- brothers, Chad Paterson (Meagan) and Joel Paterson (Amy); one step-sister, Jennifer Steckly; one step-brother, Michael Steckly; grandparents, Jim Edwards, Grace Frith and Janet Eden; in-laws, Michelle Beauregard (Dan) and Nicole Beauregard; and step-mother, Sherri Cecchetto. Blaine was predeceased by his step-sister, Madison; and grandfather, Wayne Eden. Blaine was born and raised in London, Ontario. He joined the CAF in 2010 and was with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery. He married Chelsey on August 16th, 2012 in Brandon, Manitoba. Blaine enjoyed gaming and was known as the “green sweater guy with a green monster in his hand”. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. ARTHUR F. WEISS

1921 ~ 2016

Mr. Arthur F. Weiss passed away peacefully in the Sunnyside Nursing Home on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the age of 95 years. Arthur was predeceased by his parents, Ferdinand and Lena (Flaig) Weiss; his sisters, Martha (Elmer Boschee), Hilda (Emmanuel Heller), Elizabeth (Theophil Heller). He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Art farmed and ranched with his parents until 1945 when he then purchased the John and Emily Nott place in the Eagle Butte district. He operated this farm and ranch alone, frequently riding or driving the eight miles north to visit his parents. Art enjoyed taking care of his top-notch herd of Hereford cattle. Among his interests were working with leather and using his two leather sewing machines to make gloves, halters, etc. Art was especially noted for having an eye for good horses. He was known for having many excellent saddle horses. The family would like to thank Dr. Bill Ruzycki and the staff at Sunnyside Nursing Home at South Country Village in Medicine Hat. Art will be greatly missed as a true old-time cowboy by all in the Cypress Hills. Art’s life will be honoured and his memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral. It is with great sadness that the family of David Paul Maurer announce his peaceful passing at the Good Samaritan South Ridge Village on Friday, October 21, 2016. Along with his wife of 42 years, Shirley Maurer (nee Boschee), David is survived by his son, Nathan and daughter, Roxanne and her children, Michael, Nikki, Jasmine, Alexander and Damien. He is also survived by a sister, Delores McLaren; brothers, Leonard (Gael), Harvey (Judy) and their families as well as many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Keith and Ida Maurer (nee Seger); father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Jean Boschee (nee Woolley) and brother-in-law, Jim McLaren. David will be remembered by his family, friends and co-workers for his faith, warmth, kindness, good humour and for the strength and courage he displayed during his illness. KNUTSON

– Lila Irene (Bray) Knutson of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of Manley, passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospice in Medicine Hat on Nov. 4, 2016 at the age of 83. Lila was born in 1933 to Edney and Verna Bray and was raised on the family farm near Makepeace, Alberta. She met Manley Knutson and they married on November 10, 1949, settling in Iddesleigh where they raised five children; Clarence Alvin, Clayton Donald, Lorne Preston, Elaine Marie, and Malcolm Dwight. She enjoyed being involved in the community, painting, crafts, tending her flower gardens, and traveling. Lila will be remembered for her love of family and as having a strong Christian faith. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister Joyce (Paetkau) and two sons; Clarence and Lorne. She is survived by her loving husband Manley, 3 children; Clayton, Elaine and Malcolm, nine grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, other family members and friends. Funeral Services will be held at Iddesleigh Community Hall on Wednesday, November 9 at 11 AM, Pastor Carl Bogda officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Rainy Hills Cemetery.
