1936 ~ KUNTZ ~ 2016

Frances Bertha Kuntz a longtime resident of Redcliff, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, October 22nd, 2016 at the George Boyak Care Facility in Calgary, at the age of 80 years. Frances was born on May 13th, 1936 in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan to Christian and Amelia Wandler where she then met and married Joseph Kuntz in 1953. They moved from the family farm to Medicine Hat in 1960, then to Redcliff where they continued to raise their four children. Frances was predeceased by Joe on September 4th, 2010, after 57 years of marriage. She is survived by her children, Randy Kuntz (Barb Froehlich), Stan (Karen) Kuntz, Terry Kuntz (Patty Green) and Cory (Jay) Fiset; four grandchildren, Maria St. Pierre, Melissa Kuntz (Tyler Mayo), Wyatt Fiset and Jaxson Fiset; and three great grandchildren, Kaidan, Ava and Raya St. Pierre. Frances will be sadly missed by all who loved her including dear friends of Redcliff and her extended family, one sister and numerous nieces and nephews. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, 1 Dunmore Road SE. on Tuesday, November 1st, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. 1940 ~ BRIGGS ~ 2016

Stanley "Stan" Edgar Briggs, beloved husband of Gail Briggs (nee Heuser) of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, October 24th, 2016 at the age of 76 years. Stan also leaves to cherish his memory one son, Robert "Rob" (Cindy) Briggs; three step-sons, Derek Rochat, Mark (Deanna) Rochat and Randy Rochat; two grandchildren, Michael Singer (Bri) and Julia Rochat; one great grandchild, Sage Singer; one brother, Norman (Betty) Briggs; two sisters, Martha Klassen and Edith Hainstock; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Stan was predeceased by his first wife, Joyce; and his parents, Edgar and Naomi Briggs. Stan was born on February 6th, 1940 in Eston, Saskatchewan and was raised in the Tyner, Saskatchewan area. A Celebration of Stan's Life will be held at HILLCREST EVANGELICAL MISSIONARY CHURCH (Room 8, Exit 1), 3785 – 13th Avenue SE, on Saturday, November 5th, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Mark Bolender officiating. LOEWEN

Agnes Louella Loewen of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, October 21, 2016, at the age of 86 years. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Doug (Joy) Loewen, Marjorie (Harvey) Nahirniak, Peggy (Marty) Sturm and Brad Loewen; six grandchildren, Maurie (Charmaine) Loewen and their son Darwin; Cody (Christina) Nahirniak and their son George; Kyle (Shannon) Nahirniak and their daughters Aubree and Lila; Tyler (Maria) Nahirniak and their son Rónán; Aaron (Jen) Sturm and their son Barrett; and Mark Sturm; two brothers, Cliff (Ruth) Oberhammer and Alvin (Joanne) Oberhammer; her sisters-in-law, Lucy Oberhammer, Vicki Oberhammer, Sue Coles, Betty Loewen, Bunny Loewen, and Frances Loewen as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Lydia Oberhammer; her first husband, Frank Loewen on July 1, 1972 and her second husband, Lorne Williams on April 18, 1998; three brothers, Ray, Glenn and Don and her sisters, Ada Clarkson and Victoria Kiel. Agnes was born and raised on the family farm north of Pashley and attended school at Clearwater. She married Frank Loewen on June 11, 1949. They worked and lived in several communities in southern Alberta and settled in Medicine Hat in 1962. Together they raised four children. After Frank’s passing Agnes worked or volunteered for many community organizations in Medicine Hat including the Ladies Auxiliary of the Medicine Hat Legion. She married Lorne Williams in December 1976. One of her favorite activities was driving, especially to visit her six grandsons. Gardening was her passion and like the flowers in her yard her spirit was renewed with the coming of each spring. The family would like to thank all those who cared for Agnes including the staff at Meadow Ridge Seniors Village. A memorial service will be held in Westminster United Church (101 6th Street SE) on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Shane P. Andrus officiating. Darryl “Tink” Edward Plante passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at the age of 52 years, beloved husband of Roxanne Plante of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Kenedi and Landon; his mother Jo Plante of Medicine Hat; one brother, Tery Plante; his sister, Pamela (Jay Fode) Plante and her children, Jacey, Shaylon, and Boyd Witts and their father, Sheldon; and his mother-in-law, Adeline Mogck. We Will Remember…

These three powerful words greeted everyone as they entered the Funeral Home this past Monday, congregating together to remember the life of an honourable man… Donald Alexander. Reverend Pollard led a celebration filled with music, prayer, moments of laughter and tears. Family ensured that Don’s many medals were on display, a depiction of his selfless service to our Country. During the interment service that followed, family shared an opportunity to place flowers with Don as a final farewell.

1933 – WEIMER – 2016

Frank Raymond Weimer of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Doris Weimer passed away on Monday, October 24, 2016, at the age of 83 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his stepsons, Wayne (Debby) Schmidt and Terry (Dorothy) Schmidt; five grandchildren, Michael (Natasha) Schmidt, Melanie (Pat) Schmunk, Carolynn Schmidt (Doug Corah), Tammy (Stacey) Warriner and Stacey Schmidt (Kellan Steinley); seven great grandchildren, Payton, Raine, Dayton, Skyler, Ryland, Holden and Aspen; one sister, Carol (Aloise) Bosch; four brothers, John (Rose), Ernie (Lillian), Kasper (RoseMarie) and Wilfred (Shirley Walsh); a sister-in-law Bernice (Bob) Desrosiers, his special friend Stella as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Doris on January 25, 2012; his parents, Lena and Anton Weimer; and one brother Albert. On September 6, 1933, Frank was born on the family farm near Fox Valley, Saskatchewan where he was raised. At the age of 15 years he left home to work as a farmhand. After that he moved to Medicine Hat and worked many jobs until he became a full-time farmer. However, for many years during the Christmas Season he was the “Christmas Tree Salesman”. Frank was always a farmer at heart and was very active on the farm until September of 2015 when his illness prevented him from doing what he loved best. Frank enjoyed John Deere farm equipment with the odd Case IH and a Super W6 McCormick IH tractor. As a young boy he was comfortable around horses so that when he began school in grade one he hitched the horses to the cart and drove himself to school. Frank was a member of Holy Family Parish and the Knights of Columbus. The family would like to thank the staff on 5 east and 6 east of the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. The staff at St. Joseph’s Home, Dr. Wong and Dr. Alphin for the excellent care he received. Thank you to all who visited Frank while in hospital.
