Don is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Deni; his children, Kyle (Emily), Tanner (Elysia), and his twins Shaye and Jace; foster son, Terry (Brenda) Moser and their daughter, Callie; and Brandon Burles, who was just like his son; two granddaughters, Abby Jean Watson and Summer Aberdeen Corner; two brothers, Bob (Lori) Watson and Vic (Sandra) Watson; one sister, Anita (Dan) Thomson, Deni’s mother, Jean Cozart; Deni’s family, Hal (Di) Cozart, Brett (Beth) Cozart, Chris (Mark) Luthin, Troy (Louise) Cozart and Kym Cozart as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Sheila his son, Trevor; his sister, Diane in childhood and his father-in-law, Ab Cozart. Originally from Calgary, Don convinced Deni into moving back to Redcliff for a temporary position at CHAT News. After 27 years, the Watson clan is still happy to call Redcliff home. After years in radio and as the local “sports guy” on TV, Don switched to a career in real estate. Although he enjoyed great success as the “house guy”, in 2008, Don and Deni bought Trukkers Restaurant, where he remained the “food guy” until his passing. Don loved his family and life in general. He took great pride in his children, considering them his greatest accomplishments and success. He was the most proud father ever! Don had the opportunity to travel a great deal with family and friends, creating many memories that would last a lifetime. Music, sports and politics were great passions of Don’s. He always seemed to know everything that was happening in the world, leaving others wondering how he was able to hold so much information in that brain of his. Don loved to laugh and loved people. He touched many with his kind words and gentle heart. Don’s inviting nature made his house a home full of love and laughter for all those who entered (some who never left). Despite his illness over the last few years, his granddaughter, Abby lit up his world like no other, often carrying him through the difficult times. They shared an incredible bond. Don was so looking forward to meeting his new granddaughter, Summer Aberdeen and two more grand-babies that are due in January, however, God had other plans. Don will be truly missed by his family and all who knew him but the memories he created will be forever etched in our hearts. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. to 1:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Glenview Church of the Nazarene (4235 Black and White Trail) on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Joshua Falk officiating.
