1930 ~ BURBIDGE ~ 2016
Evelyn Fern Burbidge, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 4th, 2016 at 85 years of age. Eve will lovingly be remembered by her children: Sandy Moritz (Immanuel) and Neil Burbidge (Kathleen); her grandchildren: Jennifer Loran (Chris), Matthew Burbidge (Julie), Nelson Burbidge (Christine), and Tasya Moritz; her great-grandchildren: Noah Loran, Izaak Loran, and Abigail Burbidge. She also leaves to cherish her memory many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, as well as many friends. Eve was born on the Erhardt family farm and as she would fondly say “near Govan, Saskatchewan”. Mom loved the hard work of farm life, sharing many happy times with her parents: Frederick and Lydia Erhardt; her siblings: Elmer Erhardt (Luella), Joyce Johnson (Fred) and Elaine Kelln (Ozzie). At twenty, she moved to Medicine Hat where she met her husband Philip Burbidge and they were married July 17th, 1951. Home became the centre of her life, raising her children, baking bread and cookies, and being a great neighbor and friend. As a founding member of Grace Lutheran Church, she taught Sunday School and ran the Brownie Pack for many years. When her children were older, she worked at Marshall’s Bookstore and the Monarch Theatre. In the mid-seventies, Eve went to work at Westgarth Gallery, eventually purchasing it and becoming a proud “business woman”. Later, forming a partnership with Neil, they changed the name to Cottonwood Gallery. She enjoyed every day in the store meeting new people and creating lasting friendships. Much to Mom’s joy, she and Sandy spent much time together travelling and exploring the world. As her grandchildren and great-grandchildren came into her life, she dedicated her time and love to them, enormously proud that they grew to be strong and independent. Eve was predeceased by her parents: Frederick and Lydia Erhardt; her husband, Philip Burbidge; and her brother in law, Ozzie Kelln. Cancer impacted her health but not her spirit. Mom lived a long life but she was always young at heart.
 And twilight drew its curtain
and pinned it with a star.

1948 ~ BOCKMAN ~ 2016
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Andrew “Andy” Bockman on Monday, May 2nd, 2016 at the age of 67 years. Andy was born in Medicine Hat on June 3rd, 1948, the third son for Chester and Mary Bockman. Left to cherish his memory is his soulmate of 42 years, Marlene (Kusler). He is also survived by his brothers, Tom (Patt) from West Chicago, Len (Wendy) from Calgary, and Ray (Barb) from Medicine Hat; as well as his in-laws, Lorne and Bev Kusler from Maple Creek; many nieces and nephews; and wonderful friends and neighbours. Andy was predeceased by his parents, Chester and Mary; and his mother and father-in-law, Art and Florence Kusler. Andy grew up in Redcliff and graduated from McCoy High School. He worked at A & B Steel, Varsteel, Dom Glass, and Wittke Waste Management in purchasing and retail. He took pride in doing a perfect job keeping up to date at all times. He was fussy and never late. His most recent part-time job as a funeral attendant with Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel was most rewarding as this position fit his passionate and caring nature. Travel was exciting for Andy with some of his favourite places being Jamaica for his niece, Jeanine’s, wedding, a cruise to St. Thomas to visit his niece, Kyla, a cruise through the Panama Canal, an Alaskan Cruise, and many other locations closer to home. He was always ready for a game of golf at Elkwater, providing the weather was nice…he was a fair weather golfer. Andy enjoyed many peaceful weekends at the lake playing cards and helping out with various functions put on by the Community Association. For the last two years, he enjoyed going to the mall food court for coffee with friends. Andy was a member of the Elks Club for a number of years and worked his way up to Exalted Ruler. He enjoyed his time there and the people he worked with. He also spent time on the board of directors for the Elkwater Golf Club, and was presently a director with the Elkwater Community Association, as well as secretary- treasurer for the Medicine Hat Horseshoe Club. Andy’s faith was important to him and enjoyed going to church when it fit into his schedule. It was important to have clean vehicles. He loved his white truck and worked hard to keep all his vehicles spotless inside and out. Andy was a great helper and could reach things in high places. If there was any cleaning to be done, he was the man. Andy was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle and friend. He never hesitated to tell you he loved you and gave big hugs. We will miss him. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Sunday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be said at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Sunday, May 8th, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Monday, May 9th, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. with Father John Maes, Celebrant.
