He leaves to cherish is memory his beloved wife Shirley; two children Linda Elhart (Brad Eresman) of Dunmore and Aaron (Cindy) Elhart of Clearwater; nine grandchildren, Amanda Driscoll, Shane Driscoll, Jaydon Eresman, Jory Eresman, Shelby Eresman, Jesse Elhart, Cauy Elhart, Cheyenne Elhart and Haylee Elhart; one sister Joyce (Laverne) Rose; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Harvey Geigle, Lance (Olive) Brost, Irene Saddler, Ruby (Marvin) Mock, Jim Brost and Florence (Merle) Koenig as well as numerous nieces and nephews . Don was born on April 29, 1943, on the family farm in the community of Clearwater. Don attended the Clearwater School and in grade nine was bussed to Irvine. Don wanted to be a farmer and decided to stay home and work on the farm with his dad. In 1963, he married Shirley Brost and for two and a half years he worked as a drywaller in Medicine Hat before moving back to the farm in 1965. The experience from this job kept him busy right up to his last year with family and friends that needed help with their homes. While on the farm, Don was on the Many Island Grazing Association for several years. Don and Shirley enjoyed many years camping and fishing with their children, other family, and friends. They were also fortunate enough to travel to Disneyland, Hawaii and Acapulco. In 1988, they started travelling with their motorhome to Arizona and California which they did for many years. They loved their cruises to Alaska, Panama and the Carribean. In2003, they retired into Medicine Hat and enjoyed their new home with family, grandkids and many friends now close by. Don loved the farm and was very proud of what was accomplished over many years. He was still able to help Aaron combine this past fall for a couple of days. He was also proud and happy that the farm had taken care of four generations of Elharts and “maybe” a fifth. He has always been the family advisor even at times when they didn’t ask for it. He was loved and will be remembered by all. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 1:00 – 1:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend.
