1928 ~ MARTIN ~ 2016

Rose Martin of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Sam Martin, passed away on Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 at the age of 88 years. Rose leaves to cherish her memory her one brother, Philip (Jeanette) Stach; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Rose was predeceased by her husband, Sam in 1998; her parents, Emanuel and Elisabeth Stach; four brothers; and five sisters. Sam and Rose were owners of Scenic Service & Restaurant in Fort Qu'Apelle, Saskatchewan for many years. They retired to Medicine Hat in 1978. Rose loved to knit and crochet. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to western music. Rose will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Darlene Gale Herman, beloved wife of Wayne Herman and mother to Ashley, Nichole and Zachary, passed away at Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary at the age of 54 on Saturday, April 2, 2016. Born January 2, 1962 to William "Jack" Castle (predeceased) and Sharon Delaney, Darlene was the first baby born in Olds, Alberta that year. She took great pride in her role as a mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. A lover of fine foods and entertaining, guests at Darlene's table were never left wanting more. Darlene will be deeply missed and is survived by her husband, Wayne Herman; her children, Ashley (Nolan) Campeau, Nichole Herman and Zachary Herman; her mother, Sharon Delaney; her sisters, Diann (Merle Jensen) Castle, Dona (John Bowie) Fox and Dale Castle; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. GYORFI

Grace Rose Gyorfi, beloved wife of Michael Gyorfi, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016, at the age of 89 years. She also leaves to cherish her memory two children, Margo (Frank) Merkl of Medicine Hat and Robert Gyorfi of Carmongay; grandchildren, Kristin (Tyler) Townsend, Andrea (Kane) Richards, Janine Merkl (Curtis Cleveland), Jaimee (Tom) Penner, Kayla (Shaun) Courtney and Adam Gyorfi (Kristin Johnston); brother, Earl (Ernie) Lisoski of Penticton and their son Derek Lisoski, as well as 10 great- grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Kathryn Lisoski in 1971 and 1982; and a son, Douglas Gyorfi in 1978.
Grace was born in Edmonton on December 19, 1926 and raised in Saskatoon and Blaine Lake Saskatchewan. Following high school, she attended Saskatoon Normal School where she received her teacher training. She taught in Saskatchewan for 5 years, then at Senator Gershaw School for 2 years.
In 1953 she married Mike Gyorfi and together they farmed in the Bow Island area for 45 years.
From 1961 to 1984 she taught at St. Michael’s School in Bow Island. Her compassionate nature was evident in her teaching and her many hours spent volunteering for Bow Island organizations like C.W.L. Figure Skating Clubs, 4-H, concerts and carnivals.
Her love for family, friends and her six very special grandchildren and ten great grandchildren (the loves of her life) will live on in their hearts and will be cherished always. Grace’s life evolved around her family and friends and she was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her happiest moments were spent being surrounded by her grandchildren. Grandma’s home was special for many family gatherings.

Mrs. Joan Leonora Peterson, beloved wife of Len Peterson, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, April 3, 2016, at the age of 67 years. Along with Len, Joan leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Gina (Neil) Powell of Lethbridge, Dana (Kent) Hunter of Edmonton and Susan (Greg) Bishop of Brisbane, Australia; step-son, Jesse (Jody) Peterson of Edmonton; twelve grandchildren; two brothers, one sister and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Leo and Linda Gieser. Joan was born in Medicine Hat on August 12, 1948 to proud parents, Leo and Linda Gieser. Joan loved everything that life had to offer. Whether traveling, reading, golfing or ice fishing, she did it with a smile, and that smile was never more evident than when she was in the company of her family! 1929 – 2016
It is with great sorrow and an overwhelming sense of loss that we announce the sudden passing of Lawrence Montgomery on March 29, 2016 at the age of 86. Lawrence was born 19 July 1929 at Edmonton and passed 29 March 2016 at St. Albert.
He will be lovingly remembered by Marg, his loving wife of 63 years, sons, Ken (Brenda), Bob (Ruth), and Mike (Lona), seven grandchildren; Gord (Mel), Jill, Alex, Mac, Spencer, Reece (Samantha), and Stephanie; and his brother-in-law, Garry Hooper.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Evelyn; two youngest sons, Steve and Thom; brother, Doug (Sheilah); sister-in-law, Jo Hooper and his mother-in-law, Betty Loney.
Lawrence passed exactly as he wished, suddenly, at home, with his wife and loving caregiver by his side. He truly lived a full life, with no regrets. Known by most to be ahead of his time, Lawrence loved music, especially jazz. An accountant, Lawrence was still doing tax returns at the time of his passing. Some of his clients he had for over 40 years and many became his dear friends who he enjoyed and looked forward to seeing every spring. A very unique and special person, he will be missed and his memory will continue with those who knew and loved him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, April 11, 2016 at Connelly McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, Alberta. GARDE BIEN. Cremation has taken place and burial will be in the family plot in Wetaskiwin at a later date.

1933 – 2016
Ronald James Lane, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Bow Island on Monday, April 4, 2016, following a courageous year and a half battle with cancer.

He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Jessie Lane, brother Wesley Lane, sister Thelma Froese as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law.
Ron was born on April 23, 1933 in Peace River. In 1936 his family moved to the Foremost area, and soon after they moved south of Burdett. On October 2, 1954 he married his love, Norma Peterson. Ron and Norma had three children and twenty one foster children that they raised on their farm south of Burdett. He was a man of many talents, carpentry, welding, mechanics, electrical work, farming and ranching, just to name a few. Ron served on numerous boards and committees in and around his community, most recently he served for twenty one years as a county councillor for the County of Forty Mile.
He was a very active member in his church. Ron served the Lord with his whole heart, and loved sharing Gods love with anyone he came in contact with. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. Ron will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6
