ROSE (ANTON) BRUCKER

1915 – 2016
Rose Brucker died on January 15, just a few months away from her 101st birthday. She lived independently for 99 years and was a mighty force in the world with a great intellect and witty sense of humour. Rose attended high school in Medicine Hat and, in the 1930s, graduated from the nursing program at Holy Cross Hospital in Calgary. She was a consummate nurse throughout her life, serving informally in many ways in the small towns she and her husband settled in. After raising their three children—Robert, Bette and Patricia—Rose returned to nursing full-time, first at the University Hospital in Saskatoon and then at the Regina General Hospital until her retirement.
Rose was always interested in the goings on in the world and loved to share her opinions. She was a voracious reader, loved to travel and to dine out. Rose was also a wonderful cook and baker and will be remembered always by her family for her creamed chicken, cinnamon buns, apple strudel and the best-ever pies. Rose is survived by her children and their families, including eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Margaret and many nieces and nephews. The family thanks Wascana Rehabilitation Centre in Regina for the care and kindness they provided Rose in her last home with us.
