Daniel MacNeil of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, January 7th, 2016 at the age of 84 years. Daniel leaves to cherish his memory his friends, Cindy McKim and Bonnie Lust, both of Medicine Hat. MARIA "MARY" POMREINKE

December 15, 1940 ~ January 8, 2016

Maria Irma Eva Pomreinke passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, January 8, 2016, at the age of 75 years. Mary was born in Budapest, Hungary on December 15, 1940, to Michael and Maria Kueller (nee Rapolter). Mary married Herbert on February 17, 1958 in Maple Creek, SK. and moved to Leader, SK. in 1964. In 1970, they moved to Medicine Hat where she was a stay at home mom until entering the work force in 1984. She retired in 2005 from the Medicine Hat Lodge. Mary was a generous, kind, humorous, stubborn, compassionate, caring and patriotic woman – a true Canadian. She loved spending time with her family (kids and grandkids), gardening, needlepoint and playing bingo, cards, crib, crokinole and parcheesi. Mary loved watching her children and grandchildren in whatever sports they participated in and was an avid supporter of Team Canada and the Toronto Blue Jays. Her most memorable occasions were those spent with family, whether that was birthdays, graduations or weddings as well as every Christmas together. Her greatest achievements were receiving her driver’s license and her family – raising five children on a shoe string budget and loving and supporting them always. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: five children, Robert (Anne) Pomreinke, Harvey (Wendy) Pomreinke, Arnold Pomreinke, Susan Pomreinke and Richard (Buffy) Pomreinke; nine grandchildren: Derek (Amanda), Sheldon (Shandra), Clayton (Leya), Matthew, Jessica (Mitch), Haley (Rylan), Madison (Bryson), Tyeson and Taylor; one brother, Stefan Kueller and one sister, Rose Morfitt as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert Pomreinke in 1989 and her parents, Michael and Maria Kueller. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, between 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. as well as on Thursday, January 14, 2016, starting one hour prior to the Service. Eloise Doreen Miles of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2016, at the age of 94 years, beloved wife of the late Joseph Miles. She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Judy Van Riper of Medicine Hat and William (Bernadette) Miles of Nelson, B.C.; four grandchildren, Dylan (Jessika) Miles and Gwyndolyn Miles, Nova Miller (Rich Cameron) and Christina (Dean) Schmidt; four great grandchildren, Tyson Schmidt, Reed Schmidt, Mateo Miles and Alyssa Miles. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph on March 20, 1977. Cremation has taken place with a private celebration of life held in Medicine Hat and an interment service to be held in Prince Albert at South Hill Cemetery in June, 2016. Richard “Rick” Oliver Wigle passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016, at the age of 54 years, beloved husband of Jan Wigle of Medicine Hat and loving father of Nicolas “Nick” Wigle (Keanna Bertin) and grandfather of Oliver. ZACHER

Phyllis Zacher of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, January 8, 2016, at the age of 98 years, beloved wife of the late John Zacher Jr. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Linda (Lyle) Williams; one son-in-law, Bruno Cybertowicz; one daughter-in-law, Marie Zacher; fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Elizabeth Ries; her husband, John Zacher Jr. in 2006; one son, Kenneth in 2005; one daughter, Shirley Ann in 2005; her siblings, John, Katie, Amalia, Rose Beatrice, Betty, Peter, Sebastian, Mary and Joseph. Phyllis was born in Prelate, Saskatchewan on April 28, 1917. Her mother passed away when she was only 11. After, she spent time with two of her older siblings helping out with their younger children. She married John on November 8, 1938 and lived in Winnifred, Alberta, where they farmed and John worked for the CPR. There they had their first three children, Ken, Rosella and Shirley Ann. Rosella passed away just 4 days after she was born. In 1957, Phyllis and John built their home in Medicine Hat on 4th St. SW where Linda Marie was born. Phyllis would always be seen surrounded by loved ones. Thursday evenings where spent dancing the night away at the Veiner Centre. Phyllis was also an active member of the CWL. Many Other actives that she enjoyed included bowling, travelling, playing cards, and socializing with their large circle of family and friends. Much of Phyllis' free time was spent baking, doing needle work, crocheting, knitting, and a large variety of different crafts. She very much enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 9:30 to 10:25 a.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday evening at 7:00. The funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church (238 2nd Ave N.E.) on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Tomy Manjaly celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
