1926 ~ PALMER ~ 2015
L. J. "Bill" Palmer, beloved husband of Olive "Irene" Palmer of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, December 31st, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Bill also leaves to cherish his memory his five children, Jim (Shirley) Palmer, Cam (Brenda) Palmer, Brent Palmer (Darlene Byrne), Tracy Palmer and Nancy (Glen) Dalgleish; also daughter-in-law, Glenda Newton; twelve grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother, Len (Ina) Palmer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Emily Palmer; one brother, Jack; and one sister, Elsie. Bill was born on April 23rd, 1926 at Grandview, Manitoba where he was raised and educated. He joined the Canadian Army and received his discharge in 1946. Bill met Irene and they were dating prior to Bill enlisting in WW II and they were married on October 29th, 1947 in Dauphin, Manitoba. Together they settled in Thunder Bay, Ontario, before moving to Grandview and Solsgirth, Manitoba for a short time before Bill’s career with Pioneer Grain took them to several towns in Saskatchewan including, Feudal, Forgan, Saskatoon, Assiniboia and Yorkton. They then returned to Grandview in 1978 where they farmed until 1989, when they moved to Chilliwack, British Columbia. In 1994, Bill and Irene moved to Medicine Hat, where they have resided since. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, carpentry, cards and loved the company of family and friends. His memory will be forever cherished by all those who knew and loved him. Eileen "Carol" McIvor of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 at the age of 74 years. Carol leaves to cherish her memory her children, Rob (Sheila) Engel and Cathy Engel, both of Medicine Hat; one brother, Keith (Dianne) Arnold; one sister, Norma (Wally) Janser; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was a wonderful, caring mother and her memory will be forever cherished by her family and friends. Mrs. Helen Schellenberg passed away on Friday, January 1, 2016, at the age of 86 years. Helen was born the youngest child of Frank and Cornelia (Nellie) Nickel of Beechy, SK. on March 27, 1929. She asked Jesus into her life at the age of 10 at VBS, was baptized and has been singing her savior’s praises ever since. She married John Schellenberg on July 18, 1948 and they lived in Cabri until moving back to Beechy where they owned and operated a local business. After John’s passing, Helen continued to operate the business, but eventually worked in Swift Current before retiring to Medicine Hat. Helen is survived by four children; Lynn Schellenberg, Gerald (Janet) Schellenberg, Kathy (Gerald) Reimer and Rob (Rose) Schellenberg; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, John, her granddaughter Tanya, her parents, her siblings and several in-laws. MICHELLE ANNE DORMAN
Michelle passed away unexpectedly of natural cause early on January 4, 2016. Born in Noranda, Quebec in 1943 and a resident of Medicine Hat since 1995. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, John; her sister Paulette Godin of Medicine Hat and her brother Terry Godin of St. Catharines, Ontario. At Michelle's request there will be no formal service. Memorial donations in her name may be sent to the charity of your choice; Michelle's was the Canadian Cancer Society.

Simone Alphonsine Brassard beloved wife of the late Laurent Brassard, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritans on Sunday, January 3, 2016, at the age of 94 years. Simone was born in Sherbrooke, Quebec on January 26, 1921, to Donald and Yvonne Fleurent. She married Laurent in Montreal on August 9, 1943. Her Catholic faith was important to her and she lived each day as an example of her belief. To Simone, her family came first, and whatever work Laurent did to support the family, Simone was there 100 of the way. She made numerous beautiful quilts and was an accomplished seamstress making various garments for the family. The summer months found Simone spending countless hours propagating flowers in her greenhouse. Their 40th wedding anniversary celebration in Quebec was an especially memorable occasion they shared with family and friends. Simone enjoyed the running of the sap in late February when it was once again time to make Maple Syrup, Laurent’s retirement project – “a cabane a sucre” (sugar shack). Simone’s memory will be treasured in the hearts of her family: daughter, Lise (Terry) Pederson; grandchildren, Kari Pederson and Travis Pederson; great-grandchildren, Mathew Gagne and Danielle Gagne; sister-in-law, Dolores Bérubé as well as numerous nieces and nephews. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, January 8, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Father Tomy Manjaly celebrant. Evelyn V. Tschritter of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at the age of 79 years. Evelyn was born to Rosa and Victor Tschritter on January 11, 1930 in Medicine Hat. Evelyn was predeceased by her sister Lavina (John) Eresman. She is survived by her niece and nephews, Rick, Sherry, Tracy, and Travis Eresman as well as many cousins and friends. She had a good friend in Idamay Schlenker and over their 30 years of friendship they travelled to many places. Evelyn enjoyed bingo and shopping and was a huge Elvis fan.
