CARLSON
Norman “Stacey” Carlson passed away on Tuesday June 2nd, at the age of 48 years, with his family by his side. After a short, but hard fought battle with cancer Stacey finally lost his battle with the disease in Calgary, Alberta in the Chinook Care Centre. Stacey is survived by his father Norman Carlson, sister Tania (Willy) Thompson, his very special niece and nephew Kacy and Jared Thompson; two sons, Luke and Colby and their mother, Valerie and his furry companion Keyko. Stacey was predeceased by his mother Lois on April 1st, 2012, as well as many other family members. Stacey was born on March 17th, 1967. He spent his life growing up in Medicine Hat and was still a resident at the time of his passing. Stacey was involved in many activities throughout his childhood. He played baseball for a few years but found his passion once he learned the game of hockey. His proudest moment was being the captain of his Bantam hockey team in 1982, coached by his Dad and Leroy Hammel, and winning the city championship. A family trip to Disneyland in 1982, with his extended Carlson family and special cousin Lyle Magnuson, was a very special memory that Stacey still spoke of often especially the NHL hockey game in Anaheim where the Edmonton Oilers played the Los Angeles Kings. In the last couple of years his travels to Las Vegas, with his special friend Rick Schmaltz and family, were all he would talk about. On his most recent trip in December, 2014, although not feeling all too well, he made the best of it enjoying the NFR for the first time. Stacey was also an avid camper/outdoorsman spending the majority of his summers fishing at Lake MacGregor and attending Thunder in the Valley with Aaron and Natalie Winter and family. Stacey’s strong work ethic started at the young age of 10 years old helping with the property maintenance of the numerous buildings his Dad and two uncles, Carl and Earl Carlson owned. This ethic continued with his employment at Turbo Gas, Medicine Hat Stampede, Medicine Hat Airport, Rocky Mountain Equipment, and finally Hat Truck Repair. The passion Stacey had for his job at Hat Truck Repair was one to be admired. Not only was it his work place, it was the place where he could go and have good times and laughs with his co-workers and customers. Stacey was known to most as the social butterfly and was always the preferred dance partner for any two step. He lit up dance floors, garages and campfires with his contagious smile and laughter. During his last months of life, Stacey was supported by his sister and her family, extended family and friends. He endured tremendous and constant pain but always kept a positive attitude with a smile on his face. He was very grateful for the love and support he received in his sister’s home and the care that they provided him. Stacey had a special place in the heart of many and will be greatly missed by all. Until we meet again……The Funeral Service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL (Medicine Hat) on Saturday, June 6th, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Prairieview Cemetery. OLSON
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Jessica Raedeen Olson passed away at the age of 24 years, beloved daughter of Marlene (Evan) King; Dale (Wendy) Olson and sister of Mikayla Olson. She also leaves to cherish her memory her grandmothers Mabel Snortland and Dolores Olson both of Medicine Hat; her step-brother, Scott Gustavson and step-sister Regan Gustavson; many aunts, uncles, cousins and her loving pet Desodo. She was predeceased by her grandfathers, Roy Snortland and Don Olson. Since her childhood, Jessica has been community minded. Even from age 9 and onward, she volunteered with her 4-H groups, supported the local SPCA and ensured that friends and family had love and support. Jessica was a brilliant academic and received academic awards in Irvine school, Eagle Butte High School, Medicine Hat College, and Lethbridge College. Jessica had earned an Addictions Counseling certificate from Medicine Hat College and her bachelor’s degree in Justice Studies from Lethbridge College. Jessica was a highly competitive athlete, competing in soccer as a child including a summer games rep team. Jess went on to compete in high school athletics in soccer, badminton, and rugby. Jessica continued her competitive nature into her womanhood as a “no holds barred” jammer in roller derby. She was known as a consummate lady off the track but would “skate like a boss” when she took on her alter ego onto the flat track! Jessica loved travel and had traveled to Europe with her high school as well as California and Arizona for College. She had annual family vacations camping, and especially enjoyed house boating on the Shuswap and winter vacations to the Caribbean for scuba diving and water sports. Jessica treasured friends and family and was loved beyond measure. You could not meet Jessica without falling in love with her, to know her was to love her. The world is poorer without her infectious laughter.
Heaven has received a true angel. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Saturday 1 hour prior to service time. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in Hillside Cemetery. SHERRY WEVER
1956 – 2015
It is with Earthly sorrow and Heavenly praise that we announce the passing of Sherry Ann Wever, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend on Friday, May 29, 2015 in Taber. The Lord now has her in His loving arms. She accepted her Lord’s will with strength and grace! Veel sterkte famke! (Much strength girl!)
Sherry was born on August 3, 1956, in Lethbridge to Buck and Audrey Geldert. She resided in Lethbridge until she met and married James Wever of Burdett in 1977. Jim and Sherry lived in the Burdett area their entire life together where they raised four beautiful children. During that time, Sherry was an inspiration to all those that knew her. She was a Christian, homemaker, mother, grandmother (to ten beautiful grandchildren), friend, bookkeeper, confidante, cheerleader, as well as a faithful and ever-supportive farm wife. Sherry always had a passion for music. As a teen, she was a member of the Anne Campbell singers in Lethbridge. She had a special gift of music; she could recognize a tune from any time period or genre and sing the entire song. She had the voice of an angel and enjoyed sharing it with all her friends in church, at home, or wherever it was desired. Sherry’s love for music and beautiful voice was also shared with her grandchildren. Over the years, Sherry gave her precious time volunteering with the Grassy Lake Performing Arts Society, Calvinettes girls group, member of the Burdett Auxiliary, 4H Club Leader, Sunday school teacher, and member of the Forty Mile Food Bank committee. Sherry was a faithful member of the Burdett Christian Reformed Church, an angel on earth and shared with everyone she was in attendance with. She enjoyed the simple things in life and never asked for more. She found happiness in whatever circumstance she was in. Sherry always went above and beyond to help and support her children in whatever capacity she was needed which often included caring for her grandchildren. She never said no.
Sherry leaves to cherish her memory her loving devoted husband James Wever, her loving children Lisa (Dwayne) Vossebelt and their children Kaleb, Mattea and Logan; Erica Smyth and her children Janae, Ethan and Blake; Jared (Megan) Wever and their children Sophia, Mila and Barent; Mark Wever (Nicole Mulgrew) and their daughter Piper. She leaves behind two sisters Carol (Joe) Dean of Calgary and Gail Bridgewater of Lethbridge as well as many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
She was predeceased by her father Warren “Buck” Geldert and her mother Margaret “Audrey” Klassen.
Goodbye Nana, until we meet again.
A private burial service will be held at the Highfield Cemetery.
