JANET LOUISE STEINKE

September 28, 1951 ~ May 9, 2015

Mrs. Janet Steinke, beloved wife of Mr. Jim Steinke of Redcliff, passed away peacefully with her family by her side at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2015, at the age of 63 years. Along with Jim, her loving husband of 44 years on the 22nd of this month, Janet leaves to cherish her memory three children and their families: Kevin (Tina) and their children, Brad (Jaqueline) and Amanda; Wayne (Karen) and their children, Cael and Irelyn; Tammy (Kelly) and their children, Jaxon, Hayley and Harper. Janet’s memory will also be cherished by her siblings, Stan (Johanna) Kambeitz, Norm Kambeitz, Geraldine (George) Kiebel, Bob (Rose) Kambeitz and Danny (Roxanne) Kambeitz; in-laws, Matilda (Harry) Bonagofsky, George (Sylvia) Steinke, Maryanne (Alvin) Marshall, Philip (Lorraine) Steinke, Alfred (Janice) Steinke and Ingrid Rasi Steinke as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Nellie Kambeitz; father and mother-in-law, George and Cecilia Steinke as well as her sister-in-law, Karen Kambeitz. Janet was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Her family meant everything to her. Mom made everything better. She was always our biggest fan and wanted to see us succeed in everything and anything. Janet loved family get-togethers, playing cards and games. She enjoyed the special times with her and Jim’s brothers and sisters. Her 7 grandchildren were her pride and joy and she never missed an opportunity to see them shine at soccer, guitar, dance and hockey. They always knew Grandma would be there watching and cheering. Grandma was the queen of lists to stay organized and help her plan for the next family event. If she couldn’t talk to you, she would text or email and end every message with a long list of emoji’s. While these symbols of love were always comforting, we didn’t need them to know how much she loved us. Janet was Jim’s guiding light; without her constant love he would have been lost. She will be forever remembered and loved by all who knew her. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Vigil Prayers which will be recited at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 238 – 2 Avenue N.E., Medicine Hat, on Thursday, May 14, 2015, at 10:30 a.m., with Reverend Father Philip Le Celebrant.
