1924 ~ KOSLOSKI ~ 2015 Nicholas "Nick" Kosloski of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Anne Kosloski, passed away on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Nick treasured life, family and his many friends. He enjoyed travel, golf, country music and classic westerns. Nick was gracious, good-natured, and generous, always willing to lend a hand. Nick took life in stride and never thought of giving up. Nick will be deeply missed by his sons, Glenn (Carol) of Vanscoy, SK and Russell (Judy) of Calgary; four grandchildren, Kris (Heather), Heather (Mitch), Jennifer and Lorie; six great-grandchildren, Riley, Kaelee, Makenna, Danyka, Thomas and Korina; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 1934 ~ FORBES ~ 2015 Thelma Viola Forbes of Medicine Hat, passed away on Sunday, May 3rd, 2015 at the age of 80 years. Thelma leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Timothy "Tim" (Susan) Forbes of Medicine Hat and Steven (Tracy) Forbes of Redcliff; four grandchildren, Tim Forbes Jr. (Kristi Smith) and their son, Xander, Brianna Forbes, Grant Forbes and Cassandra Forbes; two brothers-in-law, Alex Forbes and Vern (Pat) Forbes; nieces and nephews, Rick (Lori) Gallant, Blake Gallant, Vickie (Derrick) Schmidt and Kevin Gallant; and dear friend, Myrna Bisson. Thelma was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Florence Higman; one brother, Harold Switzer; one sister, Doreen Gallant; and one sister-in-law, Mary Ann Forbes. Thelma was born on August 11th, 1934 in Virden, Manitoba. She was the instrumental in development of senior’s access to independent living during her working career in Virden. Thelma loved to spend time with her family and grandchildren and retired to Medicine Hat to be closer to them. She was an avid church member, loved quilting and playing cards. Thelma also enjoyed volunteering for various organizations including the Medicine Hat Food Bank for several years. She will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends. Susan Andersen of Bow Island, Alberta died unexpectedly in Calgary, Alberta on May 1, 2015 at the age of 65.
Susan is survived by her husband, Leif of Bow Island and daughter April Andersen (Sam Scott), of Imperial, California, sister Diane and Terry Forbes and their children Katherine (Chris) Hill and family, Matt (Careen) Forbes and family, all of Queensland, Australia and sister Marina and Doug Jones of Calgary, Alberta with children Zack and Mariel.
Susan is preceded in death by her son Jason (1988), her mother Tillie (1991) and her father, Barney (2015).
Susan was born on October 2, 1949 in Lethbridge, Alberta to Barney and Tillie Wolthuis. The family moved to Calgary in 1954 where she graduated high school at the age of 17 from Viscount Bennett. She lied about her age to try out for the Calgary Stampeders Stampettes cheerleaders, which she did from 1966-1968, including going to the Grey Cup in 1968. She started Nursing School at St. Michael’s in Lethbridge, Alberta in 1967. She met Leif in the spring of 1968 when her and two friends decided to play hooky from studying, to go visit the Simpson family in Bow Island. Susan and Leif got engaged in the fall of 1968 and they married in Calgary on June 28, 1969. The big city girl then moved to the small town of Bow Island for more than a year before they moved to Edmonton where their son Jason was born on February 17, 1971. Having enough of the city life, Susan and Leif returned to Bow Island in the fall of 1971 and have made it their home ever since. Their daughter April was born on August 2, 1972 and the family was complete and happy.
Susan worked at several places before finding her passion at the Bow Island Library, when she started working there in 1980. She was one of the founding members of the Shortgrass Library System, the first library system in the province. She loved working at the library and was instrumental in making the library what it is today. She once held a garage sale during a camping trip, making everyone involved ‘donate’ items from each of their trailers, sending all proceeds to the library expansion.
Being an avid sportsperson, Susan loved playing slo-pitch and golf in the summer and curling in the winter. Her slo-pitch team, The Jets, even made it to the Coors Light Nationals one year. The whole family participated in the Southern Alberta Summer Games until April graduated from high school. She was the typical hockey mom which Jason played for many years. She was a lifelong Stampeders fan and Calgary Flames fan and even converted Leif from being an Edmonton fan to cheer for the correct teams. Susan and Leif loved camping and did it as much as possible. They started out tenting with the kids, before graduating up to trailers and fifth wheelers. Both were adventurous world travelers, visiting many places in Canada, the United States, and Mexico, as well heading to far flung destinations in places like Costa Rica, Singapore, Dominican Republic, Australia and Fiji. Susan and April also went on many girl getaway adventures together, with Leif always calling asking what fun they were going to have next.
Susan was a wonderful woman who enjoyed life to the fullest every day. Her smile and laugh could brighten any room, and her happy fun loving spirit never dimmed. She will be missed not only by her family and friends, but the many lives she touched in her time.
A Funeral Service will be held at St. Michaels Catholic Church (1101 1 St E, Bow Island, AB) on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Fred Monk officiating, reception to follow at the Bow Island Legion. All are welcome to attend and celebrate and remember Susan’s extraordinary life. It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of Clara "LaRae" Laughlin on Saturday May 2, 2015 in Cardston AB at the age of 75 years. LaRae was predeceased by her parents Virginia and Evan Haslam, her husband James H. Laughlin and her son Kevin L. Laughlin. She is survived by her children Jim L. Laughlin (Merilyn), Randy Laughlin (Rosemary) and Sharlene Laughlin (Chad Kearns).
She also leaves to mourn her loss the following grand children; Bryan Laughlin (Jessica), Stacey Fox (Tyler) Sonia Laughlin (Jeremy Fisher), Evan Laughlin, Chelsea Grisbrook, and Troy (Stephanie) Grisbrook. The following great grandchildren; Ashton, William and Celia Laughlin, Jeremy Fox, and Calli Grisbrook, a brother Monte Haslam, 2 sisters Rita Thompson and Duraine (Willie) Krczizanowski as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
LaRae was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved her ward. She was always excited about going to her institute class and loved serving in the temple.
The Funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Cardston Alberta West Stake Center (Waterton Hi-way) on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Friends may meet the family from 12:00-12:45 p.m. prior to the service. HARGRAVE, Mary Elizabeth (nee Edwards)

April, 30, 2015 – Calgary Mary Hargrave passed away peacefully, at Wentworth Manor on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at the age of 93 years.
Mary was born on August 19, 1921, in Edmonton, Alberta, to parents William and Mabel Edwards. She grew up in Calgary, and graduated from Calgary Collegiate Institute in 1939. She was one of three siblings, and is survived by her sister, Florence. Mary and Ralph met at the University of Alberta; she, in Nursing and he, in Engineering. They were married two years after graduation in 1945, in Edmonton. Ralph’s career in general contracting took them many places across Canada and overseas, all the while rearing four children. They settled in Calgary, where Mary continued her nursing career in public health with the City of Calgary eventually retiring in the mid 1980’s. Retirement brought travel, skiing, golfing, and choir music with her beloved West Side Singers. There were also many special family times, treasured by all.
Mary will be sadly missed by her three children, Bill (Myrna), Ross (Val), and Lois (Chris), grandchildren Evan (Jenn), Kate, Ashley, Jenn(Craig) , Chris (Kari), and great grandchildren Lennon, Seth, and Norah.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter Dawn (1962), her brother Bill (2000), and her loving husband of 66 years, Ralph, in 2011.

JESKE George Karl Jeske passed away on Monday, May 4, 2015, at the age of 85 years, beloved husband of Ann Jeske of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory one daughter, Bonnie Sederberg; four grandchildren, Jerri and Blaine (Owen, Easton and Jax); Tammy and Russ; Staci and Greg (Addison and Hayden); Kayla and Alan; four sisters-in-law Marjorie Jeske, Frieda Jeske, Esther (Leonard) Klaudt and Gloria Mock. He was predeceased by his parents, Lydia and Emanuel Jeske; four brothers, Emil, Harvey, Howard and John; four sisters, Ida, Frieda, Alice and Barbara; one brother-in-law, Harvey Mock. George was born on August 2, 1929 in the Medicine Hat district. He attended country schools and after receiving his education he began working at Medalta Potteries. On April 11, 1953 he married Ann Mock in Medicine Hat. George worked as a bus driver on the Irvine to Elkwater route before starting at the Medicine Hat News where he worked until his retirement. He always kept busy with his sports, watching and coaching and playing banjo in several different bands in Medicine Hat. He was also an avid gardener. On April 11 George and Ann celebrated 62 wonderful years together. He will be missed greatly. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 8, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Memories Forever… Last week, family and friends gathered for a private graveside service at Hillside Cemetery in loving memory of Dennis Keating Ramsdale. Celebrant Getz invited everyone forward to place a flower on the casket in remembrance of their connection with Dennis. He also made reference to the quiet love Dennis possessed and noted that family was the most important treasure one could hold. In honour of Dennis, Celebrant Getz shared a beautiful rendition of “Amazing Grace” before the final musical tribute entitled, “Don’t Worry Be Happy”. Dennis would have liked that!

Mrs. Margaret Rose (MacPherson) Walchuk, beloved wife of the late Mr. Garry Walchuk, passed away suddenly on April 27, 2015 at the age of 56 years. She leaves to cherish her memory daughters Mariah (Robbie Bourdon) Walchuk of Nelson, British Columbia, Jaime (Christopher Emery) Sisk of Airdrie, Alberta, son Lloyd (Andrea Gustafson) Sisk of Red Deer, Alberta; grandchildren Lux Bourdon of Nelson, British Columbia, and Michael; brothers Glen (Donna) MacPherson of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Dennis Brost of Conora Saskatchewan, sister Tara Nash of Edmonton, Alberta; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. All who had the good fortune of knowing her will sadly miss Marg’s contagious laugh and warm heart. WILLIAMS It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kenneth Mark Williams, beloved husband of Ella Williams, on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at the age of 88 years. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, George (Nellie) Williams, Allan Williams (Teena Shaw), Susan Williams (Harvey Menard) and Sandra Williams; seven grandchildren, Carolyn and Tony (Anthony and Mitchell); Ivy and Wyatt, Anna, Samuel and Nikole (Jade); Matthew and Olivia, Riley and Stephanie; and Sawyer; and two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Williams and Patricia Williams. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Bertha and George Williams; two brothers, Jim and Don Williams; one sister, Margaret Williams; and son-in-law, Sheldon Forbes.
Dad was born and raised on a farm near Newmarket, Ontario, where he acquired a very keen work ethic. At the age of 17 Dad joined the WW II effort as a Merchant Marine and for 7 years sailed the world out of the Port of Montréal while learning the steam engineer trade. Dad met our beautiful Mom, Ella, in Ottawa and after a brief courtship they married in 1951. They settled in Pickering, Ontario, where Dad built a house from the ground up for his growing family and earned his First Class Ontario Steam Engineer Certificate. In 1961, Dad moved his family out west. He became a public servant for DND at CFS Beaverlodge in 1963 and was Chief Steam Engineer at CFB Suffield from 1973 until his retirement in 1988.
Dad was a prolific letter writer as well as a great story teller and he loved to share stories of growing up on the farm and of his family, to which he was very close, and of his world travels as a young man. He loved to travel and took his family on many memorable camping trips across Canada and the US and to visit our grandparents, Nanny and Grand Dad, and aunts, uncles and cousins in southern Ontario. In his later years Dad delivered thousands of meals on wheels, became a health food enthusiast and cook, took his beloved dogs Scruffy and Muffin for daily walks in Kin Coulee, and worked tirelessly for many years caring for our ailing Mom. Dad never missed a Blue Jays game and always enjoyed a good laugh and a game of crib with family members and friends. We love him and we miss him.
Our family wishes to express sincere thanks to the staff of the Medicine Hat and Foothills Hospitals, and a special thank you to Glen Sletvold and Samantha Brimage for their thoughtful care and kindness to Dad, and Mom, over the years.
