July 25, 1921 – February 21, 2015
Heaven’s gates were opened February 21, 2015 for Andrew “Andy” to enter. Andy is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Lorna (Wayne) Becker; grandchildren, Andrea (Cliff) Swadling and their children, Abbygale and Luke; Kelsey (Kyle) Stanton and their children, Chloe and Sophie; Geoff (Tara) Brosz and their children, Shaydin and Lexa; and Jason Becker (Maya Schenk); Dwayne Becker; Wade (Carmen) Wudrich and their son, Levi; Brett Blair; Danielle Blair; Betty’s children, Ken McDonell, Leanne McDonnell and family, MaryLou (Fred) Stiefel and family, John (Kim) McDonell and family; one brother, Gus (Fern) Wudrich; two sisters, Dorothy Geddes and Lillian (Stan) Dockrell as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Grace Wudrich; his parents, Mary and Carl Wudrich; one son, Daniel Carl Wudrich; one daughter, Sandra May Blair; one son-in-law, Victor Brosz; two brothers, Rudy (Mary) Wudrich, and Walter (Millie) Wudrich and two sisters, Elsie (Arnie) Butler and Alvina (Jack) Kettles. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 12:30 to 1:25 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Jan Stevenson officiating. .SCHAFFER
Harvey Schaffer passed away peacefully at the Carmel Hospice with his family by his side on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at the age of 85 years. Harvey is survived by the love of his life Audrey of 63 years, and his children: Darrell (Ruth), Sandra (Terry) Goldade, Dale, Brian (Ericka Baldwinson) and daughter-in-law Ann (Bill) Ferguson. He will be sadly missed by his eight grandchildren: Nicole (Doug) Hadley, Trevor (Katrina) Schaffer, Landon (Monica) Schaffer, Justin (Carla) Taupert, Brad (Melissa) Schaffer, Malarie Schaffer (Mike Dooley), Brooke Schaffer and Aleigha Yasin, as well as his precious great grandchildren Jamine, River, Skye, Isabella, Samantha, Sheadon, Lahson, Brayden, Carson, Hudson and Emmit. Harvey is also survived by his sister Lorine (Howard) Mock, sisters-in-law Alice Schaffer, Carol (Jim) Lines, Janice (John) Judge, Bernice Paulson and brother-in-law Russ (Lynne) Paulson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Harvey was predeceased by his son Terry (2002), his parents Peter and Helen, brothers Roy (Mary), Emil (Lynn), Clarence, Ed (Florence), his in-laws Edwin and Amanda Paulson, brother-in-law Howard Paulson, and grandson Reilly Verhooven (2014). Harvey was born February 9, 1930, raised and educated in the Irvine area. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As a journeyman mechanic Harvey operated several family owned service stations in Irvine, Medicine Hat and Redcliff from 1958 to 1983. The most recent being Schaffer’s Shell Service Station in Redcliff. In 1983, along with two of his sons, Harvey embarked on a new career in the greenhouse industry until his retirement in 1997. Harvey was proud to have served 21 years as a Redcliff Volunteer Fireman, the last 17 of those years as Fire Chief, retiring in 1987. The Redcliff Lions Club recognized Harvey’s many contributions to the community in 1989, as the Redcliff Citizen of the Year. Family and friends wishing to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Wednesday, evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Redcliff Cemetery.
