.1922 ~ WHITNEY ~ 2015Arthur Benjamin Hoops Whitney of Medicine Hat, died peacefully on Saturday, February 7th, 2015 at the grand age of 92 years. “ZIP” Whitney, son of Earl and Florence Whitney, rode away into a heavenly sunset on February 7th at St. Joseph’s Home for Aged in Medicine Hat after a very short battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Margaret; son, Arthur; and daughter-in-law, Nora, also of Medicine Hat; and seven step- grandchildren. Zip lived and worked the ranch in Cypress Hills, Saskatchewan, until the mid 60’s,then eventually retiring from the Cypress County as a Pest Control Officer in 1987. He loved to watch stampedes and boxing tournaments, especially social visits with a glass of homemade wine that loosened his tongue to reveal fascinating stories of his life and times. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Private Family Time of Remembrance will be held. Arthur Jeggo of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Barbara Jeggo, passed away on Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 at the age of 87 years. Arthur leaves to cherish his memory his children, David (Beverley Ann) Jeggo, Michael Jeggo, Katherine (Brooke) Culley and Karen Jeggo; six grandchildren, David Jeggo (Mersija Softic), Chris (Veronique) Jeggo, Melanie (Craig) Weigel, Wednesday Culley, Wyatt Culley and Joshua Jeggo; and three great grandchildren, Zachary, Maya and Noah. Arthur was predeceased by hiswife, Barbara; his parents; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Stanley; and two sisters, Gert and Mable. Arthur was born in England and in 1952 moved to Canada, specifically Medicine Hat and fell in love with the prairies. He met and married Barbara Alsop and they had 4 children. He took his family camping every summer for 2 weeks even though he hated it, unbeknownst to the kids. Arthur was a very kind and gentle man who worked hard. He was an avid gardener his entire life and enjoyed painting, collecting stamps and coins. He lost his beloved Barbara nine years ago andcoped the best he could by being extremely busy with his hobbies and gardening. Arthur remained in his own home until the time of his passing. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 6th, 2015; with further information to be forthcoming. Vincent’s family sadly announces his sudden passing Tuesday, February 10th, 2015 in Lethbridge, Alberta at the tender age of twenty. He will be sorely missed by his Mom, Stacy; grandparents, Joan and Steve; his father, Andrew Wiebe (Donna and stepsister, Brooklyn and stepbrother, Brayden); and his Uncle Steve (Nicole and Steven and Victoria); and Aunt Stephanie (Kira and Sophia); and Aunt Suzzanne. He will be remembered as a young man with a tender heart and a willingness to help his friends and family who were important to him. He grew up and went to school in Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. He enjoyed swimming and summer games and listening to music all night long. He played basketball with friends, but his real love was hockey. A highlight of his life was playing for the Hockey Hounds at age 15. He loved everything about cars especially driving them. His favorite was the Volkswagon. He looked forward to visits from his cousins and playing with his dog ‘Butters’. It is with profound sadness, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer, we announce the passing of Tony Neigum. He passed away February 9, at the age of 77 with his loving family at his side. Tony’s passing leaves a void in the lives of many people. None more than his sons Steve (Bev) and their children (Desirae, Brandon, and Taylor), Stan (Deni) and their children (Sydney, Erica, Layton, and Carson); three brothers, Sam (Martha) Neigum, Jake (Joyce) Neigum and John (Rose) Neigum; two sisters, Annie Lemare and Julia Snell; sisters-in-law, Denise Neigum, Betty-Lou (Warren) Elofson and Patti (Alan) Martineau and brother-in-law, Mike Marshall as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and George Neigum; his wife, Val on April 12, 2009; his brothers, George (Ann) Neigum, Nick Neigum and Fred Neigum; his sisters, Caroline (Tony) Jangula, Betty (Pete) Antoni, Jenny (George) Rosenau, Maggie (Lloyd) Shinness and Katie Marshall. Tony was born October 8, 1937 in Empress, Alberta. He grew up in the Mendham, Saskatchewan area and called Medicine Hat home after marrying the love of his life, Valerie Halpin, July 4, 1964. Together they successfully ran a trucking company and farm until Val’s illness required him to retire and become a full time caregiver for her. It was during this time, unknowingly to him, he demonstrated what a kind, selfless, loving husband, father, grandfather, and man he truly was. After Val’s passing in 2009, his focus became his family, both immediate and extended. Tony’s immediate family focus involved attending any and every function he could for his grandchildren or helping either of his son’s with anything they needed. His extended family focus involved suppers, travelling to see family, and helping out his siblings whenever they were in need. Tony was known for his gift of gab, sense of humour, big never ending smile, and love of life. He was a great neighbour and made many friendships with people that lived on 4th Street over the years. Bertin Peter Nelson passed away at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the age of 92 years. One of twelve children, he ws born to Peter and Dena Nelson on January 12, 1923 in Sexsmith, Alberta. He leaves to cherish his memory one brother Sid (Elaine) Nelson, three sisters, Myrtle (Willie) Cooper, Helen (Leon) Gilbertson, Evelyn (Bruce) Martin and a sister-in-law Esther Nelson and was uncle to 37 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Dena and Peter Nelson; three brothers, Robert Nelson, Daniel Nelson and Edward (Helen) Nelson; four sisters, Nora Nelson, Eleanor Nelson, Mary (Bud) Pattison and Ruth (Joe) Hample. From Sexsmith, Alberta his parents would later move to Meckling, South Dakota and then to Naicam, Saskatchewan where he attended public school. Upon graduating, he joined the R.C.A.F. as a wireless operator in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Upon his discharge he worked for a number of years at the Boeing Aircraft plant in Seattle. From there he was employed at Cargill in San Francisco until his retirement. After several years in Pacola, Oklahoma, he returned to Canada in 2010 to live in Medicine Hat where he resided at Meadowlands and later at Riverview Care Centre. His major hobbies were oil painting, piano and writing of books. In high school he also majored in drama and yes he played both hockey and softball. With memory loss, life was not so easy, but he appreciated the kind care given to him along the way. He enjoyed his worship experience at Unity Lutheran Church over these last years. A memorial service will be held in Unity Lutheran Church (8 Palliser Place NE) on Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Leon Gilberston and Rev. Sid Nelson co-officiating. It is with profound sadness the family of Katherine (Kay) Rennie, beloved wife of the late William Rennie, announce her passing on Tuesday February 10, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Mom was born on April 6, 1925, in Mendham Saskatchewan. She met Dad at the glass factory in Redcliff, Alberta and they were wed on June 10, 1947. When Dad joined the army, they moved to Wainwright, Alberta and raised six children together. After Dad retired from the Canadian Forces they moved back to Medicine Hat. Along with raising her children Mom worked at Saint Mary’s School as a housekeeper from 1968 until her retirement in 1984. Mom canvassed for many charities over the years and into her 80s she enjoyed volunteering at St. Joseph’s Home. While living at the Wellington she made many friends and was active with the social committee. Our Mom was a woman of deep faith and strong moral convictions and was a longtime member of the C.W.L. She deeply loved her family and took great pride in each of them. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, her daughter Maureen (Degagne) and her mother Katherine Minich; her father and stepmother Philip and Elizabeth Jangula as well as numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son Bill (Paulette) of Okanagan Falls BC, daughter Peggy (Clair) Lovig of Lloydminster, Alberta, son Tom (Shelley), daughter Kitty (Don) Cross, and son Mike (Doni) all of Medicine Hat. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michelle Rennie (Brad Mhyer), Kael Rennie, Tate (Christina) Knowles, Justin (Andrea) Knowles, Matthew (Jordan) Rennie, Amanda Rennie, Daniel and Nicole Cross; Shauna (Tim) Velestuk, Elisha Yanke, Natasha Opp and Megan (Trevor) Bolen. Mom also treasured her 13 great-grandchildren. Also left to mourn her passing, are her sister Anne (Joe) Baier and her brother John (Ronnie)Jangula (Medicine Hat) and her sister Betty Grabowski of Belleville, Ontario as well as many nieces and nephews. We will miss Mom’s straight-forwardness and sense of humor. It is with great sadness that the family of Ron McCaskill announce his passing on December 22, 2014 at age 47 from a heart attack. We would like to thank Ron’s work family Trican Oilwell Services, as well as our family and friends for all the love, support and many acts of kindness. Ron’s funeral was held in his hometown of Gladstone Manitoba on December 30th. Ron met life’s challenges head on because his kids meant everything to him. During the funeral Stetson summed up his Dad. “My dad was more than you could see. He never lied, he never stole but most of all he was always kind, he was always reliable. It is with heavy hearts that the family of Wolfgang (Wolf) Paul Bigge, beloved husband of Debbie Bigge of Medicine Hat, announce his passing on Monday, February 9, 2015, at the age of 63 years. Wolf was born in Germany on October 24, 1951, a son to proud parents, Paul & Alwine Bigge. At a young age the family made the move to Canada, settling in Palmerston, Ontario where Wolf grew up. In 1979, he married Debbie Zmija and a year later, they moved to Medicine Hat and made their home. Wolf worked for a variety of employers over the years before gaining employment with Hallcon Crew Transport Inc. , where he was an Area Service Manager, servicing a large area in southern Alberta and southern Saskatchewan. He was well liked and respected by all of his colleagues in the industry. Wolf enjoyed the great outdoors and was an avid hunter – he loved the mountains and spending time at the cabin. He had quite the sense of humour and was mischievous at times – a real character! Wolf will be deeply missed by his wife, Debbie; children and grandchildren: daughter, Val (Laurie) Seitz of Medicine Hat and their family, Katarina (Miles) Dato and Allie Seitz; daughter, Char (Jason) Flaig of Medicine Hat and their family, Jordan, Joshua and Jasper; daughter, Brandy (Russell) Heath of Omaha, Nebraska and their family, McKenzy Heath (Aaron) and Trevor; a sister, Toni Jordan; brothers, Werner (Louise) Wenslawski and Ralph (Cami) Bigge; sister-in-law, Angie Wenslawski; brother-in-law, Larry Zmija as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Frank Wenslawski and a brother-in-law, Egon Jordan. Wolf will be silently remembered by his family and friends.
