.1946 ~ SJOVOLD ~ 2015
Kenneth “Ken” Sjovold, beloved husband of Louise Sjovold of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, January 26th, 2015 at the age of 68 years. Ken also leaves to cherish his memory his son, Tim Sjovold of Melfort, Saskatchewan and his son, Carter Sjovold of Melfort; his daughter, Jodie (Scott) Griffin of Delisle, Saskatchewan and her daughters, Riley Sapergia of Delisle and Jordan May of Lloydminster; one sister-in-law, Valarie (Lloyd) Stevenson of Regina; as well as special niece and nephew, Brenda McKenzie and Dwayne Martin, both of Kelowna who meant so much to Ken; and his beloved 4 legged companion, Molly. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Palmer and Marie Sjovold; two brothers, Gordon Sjovold and Gary (Barb) Sjovold; one sister, Mavis (Elmer) Martin; one brother-in-law, Gordon Mooney; and his in-laws, Farran and Dora Mooney. A Celebration of Ken’s Life will be held in Outlook, Saskatchewan at a later date. Ella Croswell of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015at the age of 90 years, beloved wife of the late Leonard Croswell. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Karen (Brian), Laurence (Faye), Marvin (Lynette) and Darrell (Linda); eight grandchildren, Mark (Lauri), Darren (fiancé Shannon), Timothy (Dennise), Joel (Allison), Amy (Christopher), Justin (Marissa), Jordan (Brittany) and Nathan; ten great grandchildren, Austin, Abigail, Sadie, Jayden, Ashten, Tristan, Micah, Samuel, Avery and Isaac; her brother, Ervin (Hilda) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and Edmund; her husband, Leonard in 2003, and two brothers, Rubin and Ralph. .D’AMBROSIO
Carmine D’Ambrosio passed away on Monday, January 26, 2015, at the age of 86 years, beloved husband of Antonietta D’Ambrosio of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Nina (Ed Michalchuk) D’Ambrosio and Susanne (Gary) Lang all of Calgary; four grandchildren, Andrea Michalchuk, Brittany Michalchuk, Amanda Lang and Justin Lang; one sister, Maria Troisi-D’Ambrosio and a sister-in-law Grazia Addonizio both of Italy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Angelina and Antonio D’Ambrosio; two brothers Michele and Angelo and one sister Antonina. Carmine was born in Italy on January 29, 1928 , coming from humble agrarian background, his struggles laid the foundation for his future ambition, drive and strong work ethic. Carmine immigrated to Canada in 1952, settling first in Montreal, then venturing west with CP Rail where he established himself in Medicine Hat. In 1959, he went back to Italy and found the love of his life, Antonietta, where they married in Venticano, Italy. Returning back to Canada with his new bride, set the stage for their bright new future. Canada provided him the opportunity to create much abundance in life through his family, with his career at Goodyear, dabbling in real estate, the stock market and his passion for gardening and wine making. He lived for his family and especially his grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. He was known by friends and neighbors as a kind, compassionate and generous soul who gave from the bottom of his heart. Each day of his 55 years with Antonietta was full of companionship and respect. Their marriage displayed the meaning of true love. Carmine will be missed by all. We would especially like tothank the home care team and palliative care at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital. Keith Hornung of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at the age of 64 years, with his children by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Christine (Mark) Stock, Kelly Hornung (Jennifer Wills) and Laura Hornung and their mother Brenda Hornung; his grandchildren, Cameron, Courtney, Connor, Cassidy, Sawyer and Jaxson; his mother, Mary Hornung; his siblings, Lorraine (Vic) Baron, Elgin (Sylvia) Hornung, Sandra Hornung, Randy (Nola) Hornung, Marion (Stuart) Warrener as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Lawrence and a sister and brother-in-law Geraldine and Laverne. Keith, one of seven children, was born on October 15, 1950 to Lawrence and Mary Hornung in Vanguard, Saskatchewan. He lived on the farm in Glen Bain, Saskatchewan until he was a teenager when he moved to Medicine Hat. Keith was a devoted father to his children, grandchildren and grand-dogs. He enjoyed family suppers on Sundays and loved being “Papa Keith” to Christine’s day home kids who looked forward to his daily morning visits. A welder by trade, Keith enjoyed a long career with Kurt’s Iron Works and eventually ventured out starting his own home repair business “Keith’s Renovations and Home Repair”. He was an exceptional and skilled self taught craftsmen who took great pride in his work. Keith’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff on 2 north and palliative care as well as the team of health care providers for their excellent care. It is with sadness that the family of Neil Dragland announce his passing which occurred in Bow Island at the age of 56. Neil is survived by his father, Vern Dragland; his mother, Margaret (Ian) Anderson and his brother, Lyle Dragland. He was predeceased by his brother, Glen Dragland. .RON (R.J.) JOHNSON

August 27, 1956 ~ January 24, 2015

Ronald David Johnson, known by his close friends as R.J., passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice, Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 24, 2015, at the age of 58 years following a courageous battle with cancer. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 34 years, Maureen; daughter, Joelle and son, Taylor as well as his father, Elmer and mother-in-law, Betty Scheibner. He will be sadly missed by his sister, Lana; brothers, Murray (Joanne), Ralph (Maya) and Lyle (Bev) Johnson along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ron was pre-deceased by his mother, Helen Johnson and father-in-law, Clarence Scheibner. Ron was born on August 27, 1956, in Assiniboia, SK., attending high school in Limerick, SK., and college in Lethbridge, AB. He moved to Bassano, AB., and started his ranching career in 1975 with LK Ranches Ltd. Ron married Maureen Scheibner in 1980 and after 13 years they moved to the Fort Macleod area where their children were born. In 1994, Ron changed careers and started working in the environmental consulting business with oil and gas companies. In 1997, the family moved to an acreage near Medicine Hat where Ron started his own consulting company, Prairie View Consulting. Ron was passionate about his work and demonstrated this passion through his commitment to the protection of native grassland. He provided many innovative ideas to reducing oil and gas environmental impacts. Ron was well respected in the rural communities and with the farmers and ranchers. He also earned great respect from the people he worked with and provided services for. Ron was very active and a respected expert in the horse industry. Ron and Maureen, through over 30 years in the horse business, have won significant awards in both Canada and the United States. Home bred horses have won National and World titles. Ron and his family loved their critters with a yard full of chickens, dogs, cats and horses. He was an avid fisherman with many related recreational adventures that created chaos with the family. Ron was always available to assist his neighbours and friends in time of need. He was always the family cornerstone with his standard saying, “Don’t worry about it”. This generally led to further chaos. Special appreciation is extended by the family to Dr. Foley and staff at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede Park – Cypress Centre Auditorium, 2055 – 21 Avenue S.E., Medicine Hat on Saturday, January 31, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. with Lisa Waites officiating and a luncheon to follow immediately thereafter.
