.1928 ~ MEKONS ~ 2015
Chloris Mekons of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, January 15th, 2015 at the age of 86 years. Chloris leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Myra (Gary) Thies of Muskegon, Michigan and Pammala Patterson of Memphis, Tennessee; twenty grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; one brother, Norman (Ethel) Campbell; and three sisters, Anne (Dave) Cassidy, Janice Richardson and Janet Pillion. Chloris was predeceased by her first husband, Calvin Anglemyer; her second husband, John Mekons; her parents, Forest and Esther Campbell; one son; and one brother, Richard Campbell. Chloris was born on October 11th, 1928 in Indiana where she was raised and educated. She married Calvin Anglemyer in Buchanan, Michigan in May of 1947 where they lived for 19 years before moving to Wisconsin. In 1981 Chloris moved to Lacome, Alberta where she married John Mekons in December of 1981. She worked in many nursing homes as a Nursing Aide. Chloris was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and enjoyed bible study immensely. She will be missed by her many friends and family. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 12:30 until 1:25 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Thursday, January 22nd, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Warren Kay and Pastor Bob Findley co-officiating. .COUSINS
Dr. Robert James Cousins of Medicine Hat, passed away on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the age of 93 years, beloved husband of the late Gladys Cousins. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, Kent Cousins; four grandchildren, Tina (Rob) Laas, Shelly, Melinda and Toni; and two great grandchildren, Alex and David. He was predeceased by his wife, Gladys in 2013 and his son, Robert in 1997. Robert was born on February 18, 1921 in Harrow, Ontario where he was raised. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces during the war and trained as a doctor. Robert married Gladys Stokes in Windsor, Ontario on June 9, 1945. Together, under order they came west. Shortly after their arrival in Regina, the war ended and Robert began his medical practice in Leader, Saskatchewan where he served the community from 1946 to 1985. Robert and Gladys retired to the Shuschwap where they lived until 2010, when they relocated to Medicine Hat. Robert loved to garden in his quiet times and was well known for his roses and his love for his cigars. He enjoyed to hunt and socialize when time allowed. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. 1928 ~ 2015
Harland Richard Ryan, beloved husband of Theresa Ryan, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, January 16, 2015, at the age of 86 years. Harley will be forever in the hearts of his wife, Theresa; children, Louise, Monique (Reiner), Steve (Michelle) and Lisa. He will be dearly remembered by his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; his brother, Wilfred Ryan and sister-in-law, Norma Ryan. Harley was born in Hanna, Alberta on October 26, 1928. He moved to Hutton and then Gem, Alberta where he farmed until 1973. In 1980, he married Theresa and they resided in Brooks, Alberta, Kelowna, B.C. and then Medicine Hat. At Harley’s request, a graveside service in honour of his life will be held later in the spring. Paterson, David Wallace, Rev. passed away in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on January 15, 2015. He was born on March 13, 1936 and raised in Lethbridge, Alberta; graduated from the University of Western Ontario, BA, and ordained as a Presbyterian Clergyman on May 13, 1960; and obtained his Master of Divinity, from Knox College, University of Toronto, May 12,1982. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Madeline, on September 24, 2014. He is survived by his children Janice (Richard) Rodda of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Neil (Lori) Paterson of Sydney, Nova Scotia, Sharon (Dale) Vare of Cardston, Alberta, son-in-law Sheldon Moncks of Cardston; grandchildren, Jordan, Logan, Jennifer, Mark, Erin and Chris; his two sisters: Joan Paterson and Beatrice Young of Edmonton and her children Tannis and Colleen, and three brothers-in-law, Gerald (Joyce) of Acton, Ontario, Robert (June) of Galt, Cambridge, Ontario and Frederick (Johneen) of Cornwall, Ontario; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Alice Paterson. David served 3 Presbyterian pastoral congregations: Lousana/Trenville, Knox, Lloydminster, and St. John’s, Medicine Hat, until retiring in 2001. The funeral service will be held in St. John’s Presbyterian Church (504 2nd Street SE) on Tuesday, January 20, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Nancy Cocks officiating. No flowers, please. A private family interment will take place at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Lethbridge.
