1948 ~ NIEMAN ~ 2014Mick Nieman, beloved husband of Elaine Nieman, passed away on Tuesday, December 2nd, 2014 at the age of 66 years. Mick also leaves to cherish his memory his three daughters, Nicole (Brad) Ambrosi, Wendy (Shawn) Weiss and Heather Nieman; six grandchildren, Justis and Jarod, Mackenzie and Lacie, Ryder and Rayna; four brothers, Terry (Bev), Dan (Phyllis), Albert (Shirley) and Jim (Laura); one sister, Lorna (Dan Osadczuk); Elaine’s sister-in-law, Colleen Cavan; and his mother-in-law, Margaret Cavan. Although he had numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly, he had a special bond with Lance, Jennifer and Dan Cavan. Mick was predeceased by his parents, Evult and Josephine Nieman; his father-in-law, Lionel Cavan, and his brother-in-law, Warren Cavan.
Mick was born in Medicine Hat on June 19th, 1948 and attended Longfellow School before finishing the rest of his education in Medicine Hat. He worked in the gold mines in Yellowknife and trucked rodeo stock in Florida before returning to Medicine Hat to work at the chemical plant, and later at Alberta Western Beef as a cattle buyer. In the spring of 1970, Mick bought the Wilf Davidson Ranch at Bowell and on June 12th married Elaine Cavan. In 1975, he joined the Medicine Hat Police Force until he retired as a Detective after 25 years of service. Throughout his police career, Mick and Elaine continued to ranch and raise Hereford cattle.
Mick will be remembered for his love of people and all things social including golfing, curling, rodeo, bull sales and travelling. He was known as an organizer of many social activities especially the Cops and Cowboys events. Mick also sat on the Medicine Hat Stampede Board, Irvine Curling Club, Elkwater Golf Club and served as a director and bull buyer for Pipeline Grazing Coop.
Although he had many accomplishments, Mick’s family was his pride and joy. He was happiest at family functions and celebrations. It was during these times that his personality and humor shone through. Mick loved watching his precious grandchildren’s activities; whatever was happening, he was there.
Above all, Mick was well known for his kind heart and generous spirit, he always wanted to help.

Mrs. Annie (Anne) Wolfe (nee Faichuk), wife of the late Sebastian Wolfe, passed away peacefully at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at the age of 92 years. She was born the ninth of twelve children to Annie & Alexander Faichuk. She was raised in Leader, SK., and went to Hollymount School six miles south and one mile west of Leader. She married Sebastian (Slim), the love of her life on December 31, 1949, in New Westminster, B.C. During their marriage, they adopted three children, two sons and a daughter. Annie worked at the hospital as a Ward Aide, the Crystal Dairy and Medalta Potteries. She was honest, caring and always willing to lend a helping hand where ever it was needed. She loved to bake and cook feeding anyone who came to visit, as it was important that no one would leave hungry. Her passion was to help in the kitchen during any function the Catholic Church was hosting, from cooking and serving to making sure all was clean and tidy after everyone was gone. Her devotion and prayer life to her faith was extremely important. Annie played softball with the Medalta Team from 1939 – 1943 and was known as the home-run slugger. Together with her late husband Slim, Annie loved to travel, and that she did. A most memorable occasion was the first time they travelled to Hawaii and met a retired RCMP officer from B.C. Annie will be lovingly remembered by her son, Raymond; grandchildren, Roseanne, Carly and Nettie; her sister, Staffania Hanewich of Oyen; brother-in-law, George Slemko; sisters-in-law, Helen (Tony) Hephner and Eva Thome all of Medicine Hat, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Alexander and Annie; husband, Sebastian; son, Johnathon; daughter, Beverley; siblings, William, Peter (Katie), Nickolas (Elizabeth), Mary (Emil), Micheal (Mary), Lena (Peter), John (Zena), Alex (Florence), Dora and Paul (Barbara). DEIBERTThe family of Roy Deibert is saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, December 3, 2014. Roy was predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Hannah Deibert; his sister Elsie Koch; his brothers, Earl, Hilbert and Lewis; sister-in-law, Elsie Deibert; brother-in-law, Ed Kisinger and his nieces, Cheryl (Eldon) Riley and Connie (Ken) Koch. He is survived by his brother, Bob (Noreen) Deibert, sister Violet Kisinger; sisters-in-law, Bertha Deibert and Violet Deibert; niece, Janet (Don) Repp and nephews Ken Koch, Len (Lina) Koch, Gary (Kathy) Deibert, Gord (Linda) Deibert, Laverne (Wendy) Deibert, Darryl (Paulette) Deibert, Darcy (Diane) Deibert, Brad (Elaine) Deibert and Greg (Laurie) Deibert as well as numerous cousins, including a special cousin, Lucille Wolfer. Roy was born on January 3, 1925 in Empress, Alberta. He was raised on the family farm in Burstall and attended Sandy Point School until Grade 8. He moved to Medicine Hat where he eventually established a career with Canada Post as a mail carrier for 28 years. It was early on after moving to the city that Roy and his brother Lewis played baseball for a number of teams which won both league and city championships over the years. After retirement, Roy continued to walk every day and could be seen walking in the neighbourhood and stopping to visit neighbours or walking in the mall and stopping for coffee with his buddies to solve the world’s problems. Roy enjoyed family gatherings, laughing at the antics of his young great nieces and nephews, or “the little fat guys,” as he called them. Roy was a kind and caring man and a wonderful uncle and great uncle to his family. He will be greatly missed. With heavy hearts the family of Mr. Ralph Hertz, beloved husband of Mrs. Lillian Hertz, announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the age of 83 years, one day short of his 84th birthday. Ralph was born on a farm near Mendham, SK., on Dec 3, 1930 and moved with his family as an infant to the farm south of New Brigden, AB. He attended several country schools and finished High School in Oyen. Ralph married the love of his life, Lillian Zeliznik on August 18, 1956 in Medicine Hat. His faith was important to him and he was an active member of Holy Family Parish in Medicine Hat. Ralph loved the land and devoted his life to raising their five children on the same land he was raised on. He was a caring and loving husband and father with a keen eye for detail. Ralph could build and fix anything or come up with an invention and make it happen. He was keenly interested in his grandchildren’s achievements and careers. Ralph loved curling, was an avid golfer, enjoyed camping with his family and especially time spent with Lil and friends in Arizona. His most memorable occasion was celebrating their 58th Wedding Anniversary in August 2014. Ralph will be forever remembered in the hearts of his wife, Lil; children, Cheryl (Dale) Cummings and daughter Lindsy; Darcy Hertz and daughters, Karly, Mandy (Tirone) Parker; Rick (Mary) Hertz and sons, Danny, Tyson, Brandon; Terry Anne Hertz, son, Kurtis (Courtney) Heck, and daughter, Keely; Greg Hertz (Natalie Holman) and daughter, Eden. Mr. Robert Bob’ Sinclair Ewart, beloved husband of Mrs. Donna Ewart, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary, Alberta on Tuesday, December 2, 2014, at the age of 64 years. Bob was born in Assiniboia, Saskatchewan on August 19, 1950. He lived the majority of his life in Regina, and enjoyed a full career with the Regina City Police. This is also where he met and later married Donna on July 13, 1991. The last number of years Bob enjoyed working as a part time postal clerk in the Medicine Hat Post Office. Bob enjoyed travelling and gardening, and he was especially proud of the pond in their back yard. More than anything, he loved spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. Along with Donna, Bob leaves to cherish his memory five children: son, Trevor (Amy) and their two children, Taylor and Kade; son, Jeff; daughter, Lindsay (Mark) and their three children, Braeden, Masan and Liam; son, Chad and daughter, Erika (Armando). His memory will also live on in the hearts of his siblings, Ron (Cathy) Ewart, Brian Ewart and Connie (Ron) Zinn; sister-in-law, Judy (Clint) Mathers; nieces, Lisa, Sarah and Amy; nephews, Kris, Kevin, Mike and Ryan as well as Trevor, Jeff and Lindsay’s mother, Wanda.
