.1940 ~ ROSA ~ 2014The family of Manuel Rosa sorrowfully announces his passing on Wednesday, October 22nd, 2014, at the age of 74 years. He is survived by Maria, his wife of 50 years; sons, Jorge (Cindy) and Joe; grandchildren, Alexandra and Jordan; siblings, Joe (Conceciao), Jim (Albertina), Lourdes (Leonel) Andrade, Domingos (Maria), Rosalinda (Manuel) Freitas; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Antonio and Inacia Rosa; and siblings, Antonio, Henry, Frank, Rose and Maria. Many of you knew him as the man who sharpened your skates or fixed your shoes at Aldo’s shoe repair. He was a man of few words but deep love. He and Maria left their island home of Faial, Azores, Portugal, in 1968 to bring up their children in Canada; it was a huge risk and drastic change. He worked hard all his life to provide for his family, content with meeting their needs and having a safe home. He would give anything to help a neighbour; he was always friendly and kind. His two grandchildren were the apple of his eye, he would’ve given the world for them. He took his family to Portugal this past summer, and was filled with joy to see them loving his homeland. He was taken from us suddenly, and we will miss him as long as we live. But we are richer for having known his love, his humor, his passion, his heart. We are blessed. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH, 238 – 2nd Avenue NE, on Tuesday from 9:00 until 9:55 a.m. Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Monday, October 27th, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Father Tomy Manjaly, celebrant. Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery. Pastor Martens offered a message about finding your way through life’s trials and good friend, Taylor, spoke about Justin’s fun loving personality as just one of the many reasons that people were drawn to him. The sound resonating from the drum circle at the front of the Chapel captured everyone’s attention as the service started and again as the casket was processed out. At the interment that followed, family and good friends alike shared in the ceremonial placement of earth following the lowering of the casket.

Ernie loved his Camaro, and as people arrived it could be seen sitting idle, shining in the sun… a display of golf balls, clubs, pictures and of course, Ernie’s golf shirt captured his life for all to see… Reverend Chelsea Masterman led the celebration and personal tribute and memories were shared by Cam Jacques among others, in a ‘golf ball’ ceremony… the club house was quiet as a beautiful version of “Knocking On Heaven’s Door” was sung by Madison Drury with music by Nathan Bechtold – truly peaceful to listen to… the celebration continued on with plenty of good food, beverages and stories and as everyone went their own way, a token of appreciation was in hand – a golf ball – to tee off in Ernie’s memory!
Ernie’s life has been honoured,
Peace in Heaven, he has found…
It was a celebration like no other,
It was his final round

Shellie May Kohls of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the age of 46 years, beloved daughter of Karen Kohls and the late Herbert Kohls. She also leaves to cherish her memory her three brothers, Gordon (Karen) and their children, Jacklyn (Andy) and Jessica; Christian (Renee) and their children, Brendan and Janelle; Colin; two sisters, Sherrie (Mitchell) Lecomte and their son, Dallas (Stephanie); Catherine (Justin) Schlaht and their children, Jade, Haley and Kenzie as well as several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her father, Herbert and her son, Michael Davis. Shellie was an intensely loyal daughter, sister, auntie and friend to all who loved her. She was raised in Golden Prairie, Saskatchewan on the farm with her siblings. Family and friends were always important to Shellie and she adored her nieces and nephews always making extra time for them. She made others feel more important than herself, even during her pain and struggles. She will be deeply missed and forever loved. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, October 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Colin Watson at St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice, on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, at the age of 84 years, with his family by his side. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 42 years, Linda; his children, Scott (Crystal) Watson and Kim (Paul) Tuchscherer; his grandchildren, Emma and Ian Watson; Brooke and Brandon Tuchscherer; his sisters, Doreen (Bill) Harpley, Lorna (John) Kleis and Vera (Chuck) Newman; his in-laws, Don (Giesela) Guimond, Bruce Guimond and Linda Guimond as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Colin was predeceased by his parents Samuel and Ann Watson; his sisters, Aileen (Grant) Bray, Betty (Lloyd) Pollard and his brother Doug (Arlene) Watson. Colin was born on May 27, 1930 in Oakville, Ontario where he was raised and attended Westwood Central and Oakville High. He worked in the grocery industry for 6 1/2 years. He then left on vacation to visit his aunt in Ralston where he stayed and worked for Bird Construction and then an electrical company. In August of 1951, he was offered a position in the Field Section of the Suffield Experimental Station as a casual labourer. In 1952, he was hired on permanently with the Entomology Section. The Entomology Section shut down and became the Bacteriology Department, working majority with Aerosols. Later he worked for the Chemistry Department and then finished in Preventive Medicine, retiring in 1992, after 40 years of employment. On March 11, 1972, he married Linda and they had their two children Scott and Kim, raising them in Ralston until 1978 when they moved to Medicine Hat. His grandchildren were the highlight of his life. Colin will be remembered as a kind and giving man, who always had a candy to share and was there to help anyone in need. As an avid Tiger fan he was a season ticket holder for 22 years and was ready for every game with his bike horn and a pocket full of candy. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:25 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Robert Findley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
