Mary Anne Tivadar, beloved wife of the late Steve Tivadar, passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, June 29th, 2014 at the age of 88 years, surrounded by her family whose loving support brought her peace. Mrs. Shirley Ann Akerstrom, beloved wife of Mr. Jack Akerstrom of Medicine Hat, passed away on Tuesday, July 1st, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Shirley also leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Randy (Ardith) Akerstrom of Medicine Hat and their children, Kyle (Kayla) and Chantel and Darcy Akerstrom of Medicine Hat and his sons, Alex and Steven; two brothers, Barry Meyer of Medicine Hat and Merle Meyer of Calgary; four sisters, Joyce (Jack) Risling and Pam Meyer, both of Medicine Hat, Wendy Meyer of Edmonton and Wanda Forester of Vernon, British Columbia; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Shirley was predeceased by her parents, Herbert and Alice Meyer. .JAMES “JIM” WATSON CAMERON
May 31, 1930 ~ June 30, 2014
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Jean; one son, Paul (Marie) Cameron; two daughters, Lesley (Mike) Archambault and Cheryl Cameron (Sheldon Spier). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Eric (Ashley) Archambault and Terri (Marc) Hofinger; his great- grandchildren, Jacob, Alexa & Fiona; and one sister Shirley. He was predeceased by one son, Stephen Douglas, at birth; his parents, John and Florence Cameron; and his brother,Don Cameron. Jim joined the RCAF in 1952, lived in France for 3 years and various Bases throughout Canada. His last posting was to Suffield in 1974, after which he retired and he and Jean settled in Medicine Hat. In retirement Jim spent many years volunteering in the Legion and other organizations. He managed the Legion Branch #17’s annual Poppy Campaign for 10 years and received the Legion’s Life Membership for doing so. Jim was also an avid member of the Gas City Good Sam’s RV Club and spent many happy hours on the road with his RV friends. Jim developed vascular dementia in his later years and for the past 3 years was very well cared for at The Good Samaritan’s. The Funeral Service will be held at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, July 4th, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.with Gary W. Goran officiating. The officers and members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Robertson Memorial Branch #17, will conduct a Poppy Service for their departed comrade. A private interment will take place in the Field of Honour Section at Hillside Cemetery. James Ronald (Ron) Duff passed away peacefully at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital with his family by his side on Monday, June 30, 2014, at the age of 78 years. He leaves to cherish his memory four children: Allan (Gizelle) Duff, Linda (Al) Duff, David (Emma) Duff and Barry (Marilyn) Duff; six grandchildren, Shannon (Ryan) Straite, Trenton (Caroline) Duff, Richard (Sue) Klemen, Jesse Duff, Kaylin Duff and Matthew Duff and Ron’s buddy, Kane; four great-grandchildren, Caleigh, Hayden, Sophie and Stockton. our mother and Dad’s friend, Doreen; two brothers, Gordon (Dorise) and Bobby (Claire) and one sister, Marie all from Nova Scotia as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Isabelle Duff, a brother, Ernie and a sister, Paula. Ron was born in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia February 18, 1936, a son to Fred and Isabelle Duff. He married Doreen Goguen and first resided in Nova Scotia. In 1962 they moved to Medicine Hat where he was a dedicated employee at Goodyear for over 30 years. Ron served his country as a Paratrooper with the Royal Canadian Regiment. He also served as President of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #17 for two terms. Ron enjoyed spending time at the Legion and loved playing darts and won many trophies throughout the years. He also enjoyed to golf in the summer months and curled for a few years in the winter. He enjoyed many things but nothing compared to the joy he got in the time he spent with his family – especially the grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat this Friday, July 4, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Barrett Scheske officiating. With loving memory and great sadness, our family announces the sudden passing of our dear sister Eleanor at the age of 87 years on Sunday, June 29, 2014.
Eleanor Ruby Mehrer, was born in Medicine Hat in 1926 and moved to Lethbridge in 1973, and was employed at the Campbell Clinic until her retirement.
Eleanor enjoyed sports, especially golf, traveling, photography and keeping records of her pictures on slides and family albums. She also loved music and was a member of the Melody Maids in Medicine Hat. She was an active member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church, being the Church Secretary, and a leader of the Brownie Pack.
Favourite pastimes were reading and doing crossword puzzles.
Eleanor leaves to mourn her two sisters, Nellie Mehrer of Medicine Hat and Marion Guzik and family, Brenda Lynde, Shaun Lynde, of Lethbridge, one brother Ron Mehrer and family, Cheryl (Desmond) and family of Ajax, Ontario, Barbara (Dariusz), Keith (Nathalie) and family of Ottawa, Glenn (Karen) Cooper of Cornwall, Ontario.
She will also be missed by her four-legged furry friends.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Christian and Paulina Mehrer, sister, Carolyn, Al (brother-in-law) Cooper, brother-in-law Walter Guzik, sister-in-law Melva Mehrer, as well as many other family relatives.
A Family Graveside Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 4th at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY.

Mrs. Winnie Davidson, beloved wife of the late Mr. Roy Davidson, passed away at the Bow Island Health Centre on July 1, 2014, at the age of 91 years. Winnie was born in Medicine Hat on July 14, 1922, a daughter to Richard and Ada Bennett. She loved life and made the most of the days God gave her. Winnie made many friends over the years, and you would often find this happy bunch, frequenting “coffee” establishments in the Town of Bow Island, spreading their giggles and laughter wherever they went. She will be missed by those who knew her and who shared her one of a kind sense of humor. Winnie will be forever remembered in the hearts of her family: Sharon (Lorne) Turnbull, Jim (Rae) Hallworth and their daughters, Kaitlyn (Dayne) and his son, Rylan; Allyson & Jillian; Suellen (Del) Hallworth and Del’s son, Simon. Winnie was predeceased by her husband, Roy; parents, Richard and Ada Bennett; sister, Hilda Hallworth; brother-in-law, Tom Hallworth; nephew, George Jetter; great-nephew, Kevin Jetter; mother & father-in-law, Robert and Annie Davidson; sister and brother-in-law, Ethel and Robert Kimmitt as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
