1924 ~ KUSLER ~ 2014Beatrice Pearl Kusler (nee Good), beloved wife of the late Harvard Kusler, passed away at Riverview Care Centre on Monday, April 28th, 2014 at the age of 89 years. Bea leaves to cherish her memory three sons: Dennis (Arlene) of Medicine Hat, Bruce (Kerrie) of Elkwater, and Murray (Marilyn) of Medicine Hat; and six grandsons. BRANDT, Ronald R. (Ron)Ron Brandt passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 14, 2014, at his vacation residence in Palm Springs, California. He is survived by his mother, Ellen Brandt, his loving partner, Denise Paquette; the mothers of his children: Dale Brandt; son, Dr. Robert Brandt (Joyelle); Dorothy Brandt; daughters, Robyn Brandt (Samuel), and Kelly Finerty (Dustin), as well as his 5 grandsons; Gabriel, Gavin, Jayden, Ethan, and Desmond. Also surviving him are his brother Reg and sister Louella of Calgary and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his loving partner, Elaine Dyck who passed in 2007, and his father, Robert “Bob” Brandt.
Ron was born in Edmonton, Alberta on May 25, 1946, and spent his childhood in Alberta. In 1964 he joined the RCAF and was stationed in Cold Lake, AB. He then moved to Kamloops, BC where he worked as a member of the local television station CFJC’s broadcasting team. After attending university he became a school teacher and taught in several of Kamloops’ school districts. He then moved to Vancouver Island in BC and became a school principal in Tahsis and on Hornby Island.
He will be remembered in a Celebration of Life on Saturday May 24, 2014, and all who knew him are welcome to attend. Family will receive friends at the Sunrise Ridge Resort, 1175 Resort Dr. in Parksville on Vancouver Island, BC, between the hours of 2 pm and 4 pm. HALEGertrude Hale of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the age of 88 years. Gertrude was born on the family farm at Abbey, Saskatchewan, April 13, 1926, daughter of Esther Miller Sharpe and Harry Fairbairn Sharpe. Gertrude was blessed to have had three good husbands/dance partners in her life, each of whom predeceased her: John B. Minor, Earl Roger, and Herb Hale. She was also predeceased by her sons, John H. Minor and Ross Minor; grandson, Marty Minor. Gertie is survived by her children Barry Minor and Susan Minor Hill (Byron); step children, Janet Roger Milne (Don), Gordon Roger (Jackie), Noel Hale, Roger Hale (Cheryl), David Hale, Nancy Hale, and Dorothy Hale Conne (Denis) as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gertie loved to dance and will be remembered and missed as an honest, energetic, determined, hardworking, independent lady by all who knew and loved her. Family would like to acknowledge the compassion and care provided by the Stroke Unit Staff of the Foothills Hospital in Calgary and the wonderful staff that took such good care of her at the Medicine Hat Hospital. The funeral service will be announced at a later date. JOHN (JACK) RUSSELL HUCKSTEP1925-2014
Age 88 of Medicine Hat passed away peacefully on the 28th of April, 2014 in the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Jack was born on Sept 5, 1925 in Saskatoon, adopted by his late parents Eldon and Lily (Hodder) Huckstep and raised in Rosetown, Saskatchewan.
As a 16 year old, Jack was in a 5 piece band, The Peptones playing at dances around Rosetown. He and his wife Margaret shared their love of music and passed it on to their children who played together in many town bands. Jack was a hospital administrator for most of his career, living in many communities throughout western Canada. He was also a long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion.
Jack was predeceased by his loving wife Margaret of 60 years of marriage and survived by four children: Dr. Richard of Pincher Creek, Alberta; Deborah (Dr. William) Currie and sons Sandy and Graham of Whites Lake, Nova Scotia; William (Bonnie) and children Daniel and Whitney of Cold Lake, Alberta and Audrey of Sydney, B.C.

KRUTZLERIda Krutzler of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the age of 85 years, beloved wife of the late Leo Krutzler. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Bruce (Bernadette) Krutzler; Kelly Krutzler (Colleen Bates), Yvonne Krutzler and Perry (Joanne) Krutzler; four grandchildren, Denine (John) Welsh (Liam, Caiden); Ryan Krutzler (Kiarra), Tianna Kournikakis; and Greyson Clark; two sisters, Pauline Helfrich and Tilly Robinson as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Leo on December 21, 2001; her parents Barbara and Adam Bauer; her brothers Adam, Karl and Emil; seven sisters, Katie, Betty, Della, Emma, Irene, Dorothy and Lydia. Ida was born on January 9, 1929 near Richmound, Saskatchewan. She was raised and received her schooling in Fox Valley and on March 20, 1952 she married Leo Krutzler in Calgary. Ida worked as a Nanny for a few years and then for Taylor Brothers I.G.A. In 1960 they moved to Golden Prairie where they owned and operated the hotel and in 1963 they moved back to Medicine Hat making it their home and raising their children here. Together they owned and operated J & K Traders a new and used furniture business while also farming in the Tompkins, Saskatchewan area before retiring in 1985. Ida enjoyed cooking for and spending time with her family as well as dancing to her favorite old time country music and playing cards. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dallas Hjorth officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. SEHNClara Sehn of Medicine Hat passed away on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at the age of 72 years, beloved wife of the late Lukas Sehn. She leaves to cherish her memory four children, Tammy (Jerome) Hellman, Rory Shen (Mina Carlson), LeeAnne (Darrel) Nagel and Steve (Erin) Shen; ten grandchildren, Kiri (Danny) Lister, Brady, Kallen, Aidan, Evan, Allysa, Becca, Luke, Kristen and Jarrod; one great grandson Jase; two sisters, Tillie McBride and Marj (Joe) Dirk; two brothers, George Weinberger and Gordon (Gale) Weinberger; brothers and sisters-in-law, Edith Sehn, Annette (Dennis) Hilgarth, Ken (Florence) Sehn, Brian (Debbie) Sehn and Darlene Urquhart as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her her beloved husband Lukas, Clara was predeceased by her parents, Lee, Barbara and Florence Weinberger; her father and mother-in-law, Ben and Margaret Sehn; and brother-in-law Harry Sehn. Clara was born on March 8, 1942 in Fox Valley, Saskathewan and moved with her family to Richmound in 1958. On June 1, 1963 she married Lukas Sehn and in October of 1997 they retired to Medicine Hat. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Sunday from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 12 noon – 12:55 p.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish on Monday, May 5, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Fr. Philip Le celebrant. A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
