.1914 ~ SKRYPETZ ~ 2014
Mrs. Helen Skrypetz of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Alexander Skrypetz, passed away on Thursday, April 17th, 2014 at the age of 99 years. Helen leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Mary (Ron) Torgeson of Medicine Hat, Catherine (Alan) Donnelly of Edmonton and Natalie (Clem) Baier of Medicine Hat; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by her husband, Alexander on January 17th, 1981; one son, Bill Skrypetz; her parents, Teodor and Maria Kosik; and two grandchildren, Terry Donnelly and Debbie Stotz. Helen was born in Romania on November 28th, 1914. In 1928, at the age of 13 years, she immigrated to Canada and settled in Prelate, Saskatchewan. She married Alexander on September 19th, 1931 and together they lived in Prelate until 1940 when they moved to Medicine Hat. For the last 2 years, Helen was a resident of The Valleyview Care Centre. She enjoyed her many trips to the Royal Canadian Legion over the years, loved to dance and loved her beloved cat “Rusty”. She will be forever missed by all those whose lives she touched. A private Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, on Tuesday, April 22nd, 2014 with Gary W. Goran officiating. On Good Friday, April 18, 2014, Bruce H. Logan, beloved husband of June, was called home to be with the Lord. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family after a brief battle with cancer at the age of 71 years. He is also survived by both his daughters, Karen (Dale) Smith and Kim (Darin) Fregin; his much loved grandchildren, Logan and Kayden Tumbach, Bailey and Brooke Fregin and great-grandson, Zavrey Tumbach. Also left to mourn his passing is his brother, Bill of France; sister, Jean of Atlanta, Georgia; brother-in-law, Ian and wife Grace of Scotland; sister-in-law, Sheila of England as well as many nieces, nephews and numerous dear friends around the globe. 1938 ~ 2014
It is with great sorrow that we announce Mr. Frederick Lawrence Beirnes, beloved husband of Gerri Beirnes, passed away peacefully at St. Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at the age of 75 years. Fred was born in Biggar, Saskatchewan on August 28, 1938, and was raised in Ruthilda, Saskatchewan. He joined the Royal Bank of Canada in Plenty, Saskatchewan in 1957. Fred met and later married Geraldine Joyal on January 4, 1964. Throughout the years they lived in twelve different communities in Saskatchewan before retiring to Medicine Hat in 1993, where Fred worked for another six years. They spent many wonderful years in Mexico and Arizona and cruised to several locations including the South Pacific where they celebrated their 50th Anniversary this past November 2013. Besides his wife, Gerri, Fred is survived by his daughters, Sheila (Perry) and their family, Dean, Rebecca, Taylor and Shey; Tracy (Nick) and their family, Colby and Ashley; son, Brent (Daphne) and their family, Justin and Kyler; sisters, Gertie and Joy; brother-in-law, Kirk Joyal (Chris); sisters-in-law, Donalda Koch (Jerry deceased) and Barb Beirnes as well as several nieces and nephews. Fred was predeceased by his parents, Eunice and Gordon; sister, Viola; brother, Harry and brothers-in-law, Art, Clifford and Keith. Mr. Garry Norman Bower, beloved husband of Mrs. Linda Bower, passed away peacefully with family at his side at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Friday, April 18, 2014, after a year and a half battle with cancer. He was 71. Garry was born and raised in Gull Lake, Saskatchewan where he farmed until retiring in 2000. He and Linda then moved to Medicine Hat where Garry worked part-time for Schlenker Auction and enjoyed his retirement. He took great pleasure in going for coffee with friends, spending time with his wife and children, and attending his grandson’s activities. Garry leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Linda; daughter, Brenda (Stephanie Martin); son, Kris (Deanna); grandsons, Wyatt and Keaton; brothers, Ron and Jim; an aunt Joyce as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In honour of Garry’s life, an informal come-and-go gathering for family and friends will be held in the Cook Southland Reception Facility, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Private Columbarium placement will take place at Hillside Cemetery later in the day. Mr. James ‘Jim’ Saul Liboiron, passed away peacefully while holding hands with his loving wife of nearly 65 years, Mrs. Anne Liboiron (nee Juss) at St.?Joseph’s Home Carmel Hospice on Thursday, April 17, 2014, at the age of 90 years. A devoted and loving husband, inspiring and much loved father to five sons, Gerry (Gloria Sletvold), Russell (Kathy Greely), Gregory (Janice Cameron), Jerome (Lori Thompson) and Marcel (Lorraine Mack); playful and respected grandfather to 12 grandchildren and a teasing great- grandfather to 13 great-grandchildren. Jim brought joy and smiles to all. A carpenter with his father and brothers after returning from WWII and a farmer and rancher thereafter for more than 40 years, Jim demonstrated to his family and many friends the merits of hard work, commitment, honour and humor. He was a proud francophone, an unwavering Montreal Canadians fan, long serving supporter of the Knights of Columbus and a cookie connoisseur. Jim was born in Ponteix, SK., and was predeceased by his brother, Leon and sister, Theresa. He is survived by his family as well as his brothers, Joe and Clem; sisters, Marie-Paul and Sr. Clemence. Heartfelt thanks to the staff at Masterpiece Retirement Home, the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Carmel Hospice.
