George departed this mortal existence on December 16th, 2013, passing peacefully in his own bed at the Valleyview, where he’d been living contentedly for the past almost two years. The Funeral Service was held on Saturday in ST. JOHN’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH with Reverend Dr. Nancy Cocks and Reverend Diane Beach co-officiating. Memorial gifts in George’s memory may be made to the St. John’s Presbyterian Church Memorial Fund or to the charity of one’s choice. Mr. Michael “Mike” Kunz, beloved husband of Mrs. Barbara Kunz of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, December 16th, 2013 at the age of 86 years. .BOSCHEE
Melvin “George” Boschee passed away on Friday, December 20, 2013, at the age of 77 years, beloved husband of Betty Boschee of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Terry (Cynthea) Boschee of Calgary and Russ (Renda) Boschee of Maple Creek; six grandchildren, Alyssa (Jesus) Heredia, Jason Boschee (Shelly), Daniala (Chris) McQuarrie, Reanna Boschee, Raelene Boschee and Randen Boschee; three great grandchildren, J.J., Destiny and Cole; three step grandchildren, Vanessa, Antonio and Armando; his brother-in-law, Harland (Doris) Brandt; his aunt Esther Becker as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Johanna and Emmanuel Boschee and his mother and father-in-law, Walter and Irene Brandt. George was raised on a farm near Seven Persons. He moved with his parents to Medicine Hat in 1955, and married the love of his life, Betty Brandt in 1957. George worked retail all his life beginning at the Eaton’s store in 1955 for 9 years. He then worked 6 years at Woolworth’s. At 39 years old, George was diagnosed with Parkinson Disease. He continued to work until 1996 after working 23 years at the Medicine Hat Co-op. George was very passionate from a young age of playing pool and continued to play pool in his basement until he physically no longer could. He also was very passionate about cars. He bought and traded several cars, but treated every vehicle he owned as if it was a best friend. During his retirement, he was sad that he could not physically enjoy activities with his kids and grandchildren but loved playing cards and games with them. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 10:00 – 10:55 a.m. The funeral \fs24softlineservice will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Monday, December 23, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Bolender officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
