Mr. John van Beveren of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Alida van Beveren, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 at the age of 101 years. 1945 ~ 2013
Dave Steedsman passed away peacefully with his wife, Lynn by his side while at the Carmel Hospice – St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the age of 68 years. Dave was born in Peace River, Alberta June 9, 1945. Following his school years, he apprenticed to become a journeyman auto body man. Dave had a passion for cars and it was evident in his work and the business he owned, Daylyn Auto Appraisals. He loved his cars and built many from the ground up. If there was an auto body hall of fame, Dave would be in there as he was a legend in his time! For the past 14 years he has worked in the insurance industry as an appraiser for Wawanesa Insurance. Dave was a dedicated and devoted family man and will be deeply missed by his wife, Lynn; two sons, Lawrence and Jeff (Pam); two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brittney as well as numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his grandparents whom raised him. A Celebration of Dave’s Life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Monday, October 21, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Sid Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery. January 20th, 1928 to October 18th, 2013

Mrs. Marguerite “Margaret” Gonnet of Medicine Hat, beloved wife of the late Mr. Raymond Gonnet, passed away on Friday, October 18th, 2013 at the age of 85 years. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory 2 children, Katherine Anne (Kevin Hawthorne) and Marie Wynne (David Morter); 5 amazing grandchildren, Shannon Margaret and Liam Kevin; Sarah Wynne, Meaghan Rae and Emma Anne; 1 brother, Edward; 2 sisters, Eva and Dianne; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Raymond in 1997. Margaret was born on January 20th, 1928 at Lake Eliza to William and Anne Halina and was raised in Myrnum, Alberta. She graduated as a registered nurse from Edmonton General Hospital 1950 and had a long dedicated and proud career in nursing and was well respected. It was her passion, and she provided dignity and comfort to all that she cared for. After graduating from nursing, Margaret was ahead of her time, travelling with a girlfriend for months thru Europe. Margaret married Raymond Gonnet on April 20th, 1963 at St. Timothy’s in Edmonton and moved to Ft. St. John. They then moved to Medicine Hat in 1973 where she continued practicing nursing and retired from working in the ICU at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital in 1993. Margret’s grandchildren were the loves of her life. She played barbies, coloured, baked cookies, kicked the soccer ball and let them win at Snakes and Ladders. They gave her purpose and meaning and no other grandmother will be missed or loved more than Margaret. Special thanks to the staff at the Carmel Hospice for all they did, in particular to nurse Cathy for her unbelievable warmth. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Carmel Hospice, 156 – 3rd Street NE, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 5M1 so that they may continue to care as respectfully and lovingly as they did our mom. It is with sadness that the family of Kay, announce her passing while at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at the age of 83 years. Kay’s memory will be forever treasured in the hearts of her family, daughter, Deborah (Art) Frischke and their children, Julianna (Randy) White, Carl (Erin) Frischke, and their children, Brody & Kaitlyn; son, Ron (Karen) Zielke and their children, Lindsey Ment, and her children, Jayce, Kaden, Nash; Kennedy & Gaelyn Zielke; son, Cliff Zielke and his children, Randene Zielke (Chris White) and their son Alex; and Sarah Zielke. Her faith was strong and she was a member of the United Churches in the many places where she lived. For the past two decades she was a dedicated member of the Gordon Memorial United Church in Redcliff. She made friends easily with her smiling and caring ways and will be missed. The funeral service will be held at Gordon Memorial United Church, 401 – 2 Street S.E., Redcliff, AB., on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Blaine Schaufele officiating. .NERLAND, Isabel Magdalena
1935 – 2013

In the early morning hours of Saturday, October 19, 2013, Isabel Magdalena Nerland (nee Stappler) passed away in Lethbridge with her family by her side at the age of 78 years. Isabel was born in Bow Island, Alberta on January 17, 1935. She was the first child of a family of four born to Anthony and Magdalena Stappler.

Isabel grew up in the Bow Island area. She attended school in Conquerville and Bow Island. Isabel met her husband Roy when she worked at Maple Leaf Mills. Roy and Isabel married on June 23, 1956 and their union was blessed with three daughters. In Isabel’s later years she worked within the Medicine Hat School District.

Left to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 57 years, Roy and her three daughters Iris Frazier, Carol Korsch and Janice Novak. Also left behind are seven grandchldren; Rusty and Ross Frazier, Jordan, Joel, Jonathan and Janine (Worsley) Spiece and Quinton Novak. Isabel has also left her great grandchildren Mary Isabel Frazier (Izzie), Easton Worsley and one great grandchild due in January 2013, Hudson Worsley; as well as one sister; and two brothers.

A Funeral Service will be held for Isabel on Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Saamis Memorial Funeral Chapel, #1 Dunmore Road SE. Wayne will be remembered for his love of music, winning medals as a boy soprano across Alberta. He has left his loving wife of 65 years, Margaret, and four daughters. His son, Harvey, predeceased him in 2006
