1912 ~ VAN BEVEREN ~ 2013Mr. John van Beveren of Medicine Hat, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Alida van Beveren, passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 at the age of 101 years. John leaves to cherish his memory five sons, Martin (Linda) Van Beveren of Westbank, British Columbia, John (Bev) Van Beveren and Peter (Brenda) van Beveren, both of Medicine Hat, Arnold (Sandy) Van Beveren of Redcliff and Henry van Beveren of Medicine Hat; one sister, Adriana “Jean” Vandenberg; eight grandchildren, Russ (Densie) Van Beveren, Shelley (Tim) Moody, Yvette Hoffner, Nadine Hoffner (Steve Wilson), Steven (Mary) van Beveren, Jennifer (Cory) Both, Brian Petersen and Michelle Van Beveren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one brother-in-law, Arnold (Dora) van Maanen of Holland; as well as numerous extended family, nieces and nephews in Canada and Holland. John was predeceased by his wife, Alida; his parents, Martinus and Pieternella van Beveren; one brother, Pieter van Beveren; and three sisters, Elizabeth “Bette” Wielaard, Lena DeGraaf and Pieternella Moerland. John was born on May 30th, 1912 in Stavenisse, Holland. He married Alida van Maanen on May 26th, 1944 in Arnhem, Holland. John, Alida and their three oldest boys immigrated to Canada, landing in Halifax on April 1st, 1953. The family moved to Lethbridge for a short period of time before settling in Medicine Hat. John worked for IXL Industries from 1955 until his retirement in 1977. Shortly after Alida’s passing in 2000, John moved into the Park Meadows condominiums, where he remained until 2011 when he moved to the Good Samaritan Society. John was a devoted family man, he loved watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He will be remembered for his quiet strength and independent nature. Words cannot express the appreciation and gratitude that we feel for having him in our lives. He was one of a kind and will forever be in our hearts. DAFFYDorothy Pauline Daffy passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2013, at the age of 78 years, beloved wife of Meno Daffy of Medicine Hat. She also leaves to cherish her memory one son, Larry Daffy of Medicine Hat; two grandchildren, Jason (Stacey) and Jeremy and their mother, Marlene; a very special great grandson, Ryker Daffy; one sister, Joyce (Laverne) Rose; one brother, Don (Shirley) Elhart; two brothers-in-law, Harvey Geigle and Archie (Betty) Daffy; one sister-in-law, Betty Daffy as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Dolly and Emanuel and one sister, Esther Geigle. Dorothy was born on January 13, 1935 at Hatton, Saskatchewan and was raised on the farm in the Clearwater Lake district where she attended school. On October 1, 1953 she married Meno Daffy and they made their home in Veinerville. Dorothy was an amazing cook especially the dough dishes, and baking, which her family enjoyed. She really enjoyed her garden and flowers. Her favourite pastimes were bowling, camping and shopping. Meno and Dorothy went on numerous holidays, destinations such as an Alaskan Cruise, Hawaii, and a Maritime Tour to name a few. Recently they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with family by their side. Dorothy was blessed with her first great grandson, Ryker on March 15th. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. A private interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. DAVE STEEDSMAN1945 ~ 2013
Dave Steedsman passed away peacefully with his wife, Lynn by his side while at the Carmel Hospice – St. Joseph’s Home in Medicine Hat on Wednesday, October 16, 2013, at the age of 68 years. Dave was born in Peace River, Alberta June 9, 1945. Following his school years, he apprenticed to become a journeyman auto body man. Dave had a passion for cars and it was evident in his work and the business he owned, Daylyn Auto Appraisals. He loved his cars and built many from the ground up. If there was an auto body hall of fame, Dave would be in there as he was a legend in his time! For the past 14 years he has worked in the insurance industry as an appraiser for Wawanesa Insurance. Dave was a dedicated and devoted family man and will be deeply missed by his wife, Lynn; two sons, Lawrence and Jeff (Pam); two great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brittney as well as numerous extended family. He was predeceased by his grandparents whom raised him. Sharon was born in Medicine Hat to Ruth and William Paliuk on February 28, 1944. She owned her own business and cleaned at BATUS for several years. Victor Feiffer, beloved husband of Eva Feiffer, entered eternal peace on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at the age of 83 years. Victor was born on February 22, 1930 in Regina, SK. After serving in the Korean War in 1953, he married the love of his life, Eva Stroh, and on September 5, they celebrated 60 years of marriage. Together they took over the family farm near Bayard, SK. Working on the farm and also the Clay Bank Brick Plant was challenging so they made a decision to move to Leader, SK., in 1973 purchasing the OK?Tire business. Together they ran the business till 1989 when Thane took over and they retired to Medicine Hat. Victor was a proud member of the Lions Club for many years. He like to golf and curl, but most of all he loved watching his grandchildren play sports, give them advice and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. When Victor retired, he worked a few odd jobs to keep busy but he especially liked cutting grass at Par 3 golf course where he would visit and meet a lot of people. Victor will be lovingly remembered in the hearts of his beloved wife, Eva; son, Thane (Lynette) Feiffer of Leader, SK.; daughter, Selene Kiltau of Lloydminister, SK,; daughter, Sonia (Mario) Biemans of Seven Persons, AB.; grandchildren, Teana (Zane) Hayes, Vanessa (Derek) Price, Travis (Becky) Feiffer, Nick (Jess Luchenski) Feiffer, Riley Feiffer, Elissa Mudry (Brett Brochu), Shannon Kiltau, Taylor (Kyle Edwards) Johnson, Matt Biemans, Kyra Biemans; eight great-grandchildren, Dakota, Quinn & Kylie Price; Caden, Abrie & Cohen Hayes; Mason Feiffer & Rider Johnson.
