1929 ~ ROTH ~ 2013Mrs. Anne Veronica Roth, beloved wife of Mr. Andrew Roth of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday,        October 10th, 2013 at the age of 84 years.  Anne also leaves to cherish her memory two daughters, Debbie (Bob) Townsend of Cypress County and Pam (Medhat) Salem of          Edmonton; two sisters, Mary Roth of Medicine Hat and Engelina Kessler of Edmonton; one sister-in-law,              Josephine (John) Holton of Medicine Hat; one brother-in-law, Peter Roth of Bow Island; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Anne was       predeceased by her parents,         Christian and Barbara Stappler; one daughter, Cynthia in infancy; as well as numerous brothers, sisters,      brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.  
Anne was born in Medicine Hat on October 6th, 1929 and was raised in the Granlea area.  She married         Andrew on October 12th, 1948 and they settled on a farm south of Bow Island.  They farmed for many years before moving to Bow Island where Anne worked at the Bow Island Health Centre.  Anne and Andrew   retired to Medicine Hat where Anne passed away just two days short of their 65th wedding anniversary.
Anne was an amazing cook who loved to entertain.  She was also an avid gardener and took great pride in her flowers and her personal               appearance.  She loved going on        vacations and spending time with her family and friends.  Anne will be greatly missed and always                  remembered by all those who knew and loved her. 
Vigil Rites (Prayers) will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Tuesday, October 15th, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be        celebrated at HOLY FAMILY           PARISH, 1451 Strachan Road SE, on Wednesday, October 16th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Philip Le, celebrant.  Interment will follow in the Roman Catholic Section at Hillside Cemetery.  Memorial gifts in Anne’s memory may be made to the Margery E. ED KNODEL
1926 ~ 2013
Mr. Edwin (Ed) Knodel, beloved husband of Mrs. Margaret Knodel of          Medicine Hat, passed away peacefully at the Riverview Care Centre on Thursday, October 10, 2013, age 87 years. Ed was born in Medicine Hat September 30,1926, to loving parents, John and Sofia Knodel. He was raised in Medicine Hat, and after finishing his education, entered the          teaching profession. Ed taught for several years, accepting positions in Orion, Vauxhall, Lethbridge, and Armada where he became principal, and met the love of his life, Margaret. They married in Lethbridge March 1, 1952, then moved back to Medicine Hat where Ed purchased his father’s shares of Powerhouse Greenhouses. Eventually, Ed and Marg started their own             operation – Greenwood Gardens, then later Crescent Heights Florists – both becoming well known throughout the community. In the late 60’s, Ed              returned to teaching at Elm Street School, then entered the Real Estate        profession, eventually owning and operating Big K Realty. Due to his               integrity and work ethic, Ed became an influential figure in local Real Estate, mentoring numerous successful agents in the process. He was also a      founding member of the Red Hat Grower Cooperative which continues to thrive and grow to this day. Whether in his professional or family life, Ed maintained an unblemished commitment to honesty and integrity. Ed loved life, whether kibitzing with his children and grandchildren or golfing and      bowling with his “Buddies”. He was a dedicated family man and will be deeply missed by all he knew. Ed’s memory will be cherished by his wife, Margaret; sons, Barry (Marlene), Wayne (Terry Lynn), Grant (Lynn) and Neale; grandchildren, Jay (Ashley), Janine (Paul), Allison, Abrielle and          Macauley; great-grandchildren, Lane, Maci and Caleb; sisters, Lil (Jim) Richardson and Vi Ferguson; sister- in-law, Edna Knodel, and numerous other relatives. He was predeceased by parents, John & Sofia Knodel;        siblings, Elsie, Art, Leah, Herb, Emil, Alice and infant sister, Karlin. A          Celebration of Ed’s life will be held in the Terrace Room at Chinook Village, 2801 – 13 Ave. S.E., Medicine Hat on Thursday, October 17, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will take place prior to celebration with Pastor Greg Keen officiating. JOSEPH JOHN STROH

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph Stroh,          beloved husband of Hazel Stroh, on October 9, 2013 at the age of 82 years. In addition to his loving wife, Joseph is survived by his children; Robert (Margaret), Barbara (Dale) Fuglerud, Ira (Peggy), Douglas (Cheryl), Anita (David) Leahy, Laura (Mike) Senger, John (Holly), Thomas (Tanis), David (Lisa Kowalchuk); 25 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Anthony (Elaine) and one sister, Clara Ann (Don) St. Amand as well as numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended   family. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Magdalena. Joseph was born on the family farm near Mendham, Sk. on August 25, 1931. He graduated from Teachers’ College in Moose Jaw in 1951 and began his teaching career in Viceroy, Sk. He married the love of his life, Hazel Tendler, on October 5, 1956 in Horizon, Sk. His career took him from         Viceroy to Crane Valley, Sk. and then to McCoy High School in Medicine Hat where he retired in 1987. In his younger years, Joe was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed playing, coaching and officiating numerous sports including baseball, hockey, curling, football and badminton. Joe was honoured as a life member of the Medicine Hat Curling Club. He was also very active in various community organizations including the Knights of Columbus and served on the Board of the Credit Union. His greatest joy was his family. Joe loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren and cherished the weekly family suppers. We love you and we’ll miss you Dad (Grandpa)! KRAUSEOtto Krause of Medicine Hat passed away on Friday, October 11, 2013, at the age of 76 years, beloved           husband of the late Elvira Krause.  He leaves to cherish his memory his children, Diane Krause (Glen Gagne) and Otto Jr. (Laurel) Krause all of Medicine Hat; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers,  Arthur Krause of Medicine Hat, Fred (Annette) Krause of Riley, Alberta; one sister, Lily Koepp of Milwaukee as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Sara and Samuel Krause; his wife Elvira on August 24, 2000; one son Alfred in infancy and one brother Ernest. KURTZOtelia Kurtz of Medicine Hat, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the age of 89 years.She leaves to cherish her memory her four children, Wayne (Doris) Knight, Doreen Florkowski, Patrick Knight  and Sandra Rae; fourteen               grandchildren, Michelle, Christina, Corrina, Darlene, Nanette, Jennifer, Candace, Melony, Jason, Allona, Shawn, Sharleen, Michelle and Ryan, thirty great grandchildren;  as well as numerous nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents Fred and Rosa Heather; her first  husband, Harvey Knight and second husband, Albert Kurtz; one son,      Gordon Knight; four brothers, Bill, Fred, Rueben and Emil Heather and two sisters, Irene Hoff and Edna Hoff. ZUBOTFrieda Anna Zubot of Lethbridge,   formerly of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, October 12, 2013, atthe age of 92 years, beloved wife of the late Emanuel Zubot. Frieda was born on a farm near Burstall on April 23, 1921. She married Emanuel on October 29, 1942 at the Military Chapel in Maple Creek,                    Saskatchewan.
