BAYERFred Adam Bayer passed away on Thursday, September 12, 2013, at the age of 87 years, beloved husband of Helen D. Bayer of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory his children, Lorraine (Bruce) Glasgo, Wayne (Kathy) Bayer and Lyle (Lise) Bayer; six grandchildren, Ryan Glasgo, Curtis (Emily) Glasgo, Ashley Bayer and Kevin Bayer; Cory (Mel) Bayer, Adrienne (Trevor) Brum and their children, Kaylan and Jerika; one brother, Oscar (Marg) Bayer; one sister, Edna Kanewischer; a sister-in-law, Helen Bayer as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugena and Oscar Bayer; one brother, Ed Bayer; four sisters, Rosemary Bayer, Beata Bayer, Lily Radke and Louise Plato. Fred was born on September 28, 1925 in Alliance, North Dakota and was raised and educated in the Hilda, Schuler area. He joined the Forces during WWII and served as a guard at the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat P.O.W. camps. During his service time he met Helen Buchholz and they were married on October 17, 1947 in Medicine Hat. They continued their lives together for the next 65 + years. His dream was to farm and in 1952, they purchased a farm west of Seven Persons where they resided for the next ten years. In 1962, the family moved to Medicine Hat and in 1969, Custom Roofing was established. Within a few years both sons, Wayne and Lyle joined and created the family business working together until Dad’s retirement in 1991. Fred and Helen enjoyed many vacations with family and friends. Some memorable destinations included Hawaii, Las Vegas, a Carribean cruise and numerous trips to British Columbia and Arizona. Throughout his lifetime he enjoyed woodworking, fishing and was a fan of the Toronto Blue Jays and Major League Baseball. Dad always looked forward to special occasions spending time with his children and grandchildren. Fred and Helen’s special dedication and love for each other was evident throughout their life together. Family and friends who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday evening, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 12:00 noon – 12:55 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. GORDON OSTER1951 ~ 2013
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Gordon Grant Oster, beloved husband of Maureen Anne Oster (nee Mattson), announce his passing at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 15, 2013, at the age of 61 years. Along with Maureen, left to cherish Gordon’s memory are his children: daughters, Jennifer and Melanie (Steve); son, Stacey; grandchildren, Rylee, Corianne, Carter and Ethan. He will be lovingly remembered by his brother, Bryan (Joan) Oster; mother-in-law, Margaret Mattson; brothers-in-law, Gordon (Cheryl) Mattson, Wayne (Sharla) Mattson; sister-in-law, Janice (Wes) Archer as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son, Jason Oster; his parents, Alfred and Ottela Oster as well as his father-in-law, Alvin Mattson. Gordon was born on December 31, 1951, in Maple Creek, SK., and grew up in Golden Prairie, SK., with his brother, Bryan. He lived in Golden Prairie until he met his wife, Maureen, later moving with her to Medicine Hat where they raised their family. He worked many jobs and found a good home working for the Alberta Government as a Transportation Officer for 35 years. Maureen and Gordon loved to travel and often packed up their trailer and journeyed to the Cypress Hills and British Columbia. For the past six years, they escaped the Canadian winter and travelled to Arizona. Gordon was often quoted as saying he loved being a snowbird, and for him, there was no better life than living in the warm weather there. Private Interment will take place prior to the service at Hillside Cemetery. A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be held at Westminster United Church, 101 – 6 Street S.E., Medicine Hat on Friday, September 20, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Jim Hillson officiating. HAUSCHOn September 13, 2013, at the age of 94 years, Edwin Hausch entered into the presence of his precious Lord and Saviour. Edwin was predeceased by his beloved wife Edythe Hausch, his parents, and all six of his siblings. He leaves to cherish his memory; Edwin and Edythe’s three children, Wayne (Sharon) Hausch of Red Deer, June (Dan) Nicholson of Abbotsford, B.C., and Linda (Dale) Engel of Medicine Hat; eight grandchildren, Travis Hausch, Janine Frewing, Burke (Chelsey) Hausch, Tim (Kier-Anna) Nicholson, Kim (Andrew) Ransom, Angela (Jon) Thiessen, Mike Engel, and Jen (Scott) Nadeau; thirteen great grandchildren, Ethan Frewing, Raya, Kylie, and Brett Hausch, Oli and Zoe Nicholson, Albee and Asher Ransom, Jack, Shiloh, and Luke Thiessen, Joshua and Ember Nadeau; one sister-in-law Marj Hausch of Calgary, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Edwin married Edythe Pierson on January 12, 1944 in Hanna, and they became Christians in 1948, a decision that transformed their lives as well as the lives of their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Helen and the staff at South Country Village for their care and love for Edwin over the last three years. As we say goodbye to our dad, grandpa, and great grandpa, we have great confidence that he is receiving his reward for a life of service to Jesus Christ. HECKFrank Heck passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2013 at the age of 84 years. He leaves to cherish his memory his brother Tony (Agnes) Heck; two sisters Anna (Joseph) Heidinger and Helen (Kasper) Aberle and two sister-in-laws, Ann Heck and Doreen Heck. A Prayer Vigil will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:30 pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, September 19 at 11:00 am.
