Mrs. Alice Gyorkos-Hauck of Medicine Hat, passed away on August 29th, 2013. The Funeral Mass was celebrated yesterday at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church. .1933 ~ KNIGHT ~ 2013
Keith Leroy Knight, beloved husband of 56 years to Jean (Brookes) was born August 6th, 1933 in Estevan, Saskatchewan. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry “Choppy” and Vera and one sister, Shirley (in infancy). Besides his loving wife, Jean, Keith is survived by three daughters, Cheryl (Douglas) Houston of Estevan, Melanie (Harry) Pettersen of Airdrie, Alberta, and Rhonda Knight of Calgary, Alberta; seven grandchildren, Scott (Jill) Houston, Joel Houston, Amy Houston, Amanda Houston, Michelle (Paul) Guimin, Kellie Doyle, and Jeffrey Doyle; and four great- grandchildren, Asher and Kyra Houston, and Gregory and Alicia Guimin; one sister, Glenda Knight (Denny Lewis); brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Janice Brookes, Ann and Duane Conrad, Ron and Delores Brookes; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Keith earned his teaching certificate through Normal School in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan in 1956. He married Jean in April 1957 and they moved to Toronto, Ontario where Keith attended “Radio College”. In 1958, they moved back to Saskatchewan where he attended the University of Saskatchewan and taught school in Naicam. In 1964, the family came to Medicine Hat where he was employed with the MHSD #76 until his retirement in 1992. He earned his B.Ed. degree through summer school and night classes from the University of Lethbridge in the mid 1970’s. Keith enjoyed his family, sports, camping, all forms of history, and attention to detail. A Private Funeral Service will be held in SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL on Saturday, September 7th, 2013 with Pastor Garth Wehrfritz-Hanson officiating. Interment will take place in the Family Plot at Saamis Prairie View Cemetery. .CARRIERE
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Beverley “Bev” Ellen Carriere on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the age of 55 years, the beloved wife of Terry “Tex” Carriere of Dunmore. She also leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Wendy Carriere (fiancé Glen Doyle) of Fort Saskatchewan; two grandchildren, Makhi Carriere and his mother, Megan Carriere and Asha Ross-Elgie and her mother Rhonda Ross; brothers and sisters, Arlene (Eric) Giest, Doris (Carl) Slugoski, Doug Beck (June Koshman), Lawrence (Sandra) Beck, Ann (Fidele) Carriere, Theresa “Terry” (Maurice) Carriere and Dennis (Debbie) Beck; brother and sisters-in-law, Laurie Beck, Bonnie Beck, Debra Beck and Harry Hart as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended Carriere family. She was predeceased by her son, Jeff on October 14, 2006; her parents, Christina and Thomas Beck; three brothers, Dale Beck, Garry Beck and Brian Beck and one sister, Evelyn Hart.
Bev was born in Roblin, Manitoba into a very large family. The eleventh child in a family of twelve. Bev went to school in Roblin where she met Terry. They were married in November, 1976 and then moved to Alberta where they started their family. Bev had several joys in life; her family and friends, her pets, going for rides on the Harley and vacationing. She was always looking forward to their next trip to a sunny destination. Bev never let her illness define her. She was able to keep a positive outlook on life and a smile on her face into her final days.
Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:25 a.m. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Philip Le celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society #102 Crestwood Square One, 1865 Dunmore Road SE, Medicine Hat, AB T1A 1Z8. Theresa “Rose” Weisgerber of Medicine Hat passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at the age of 88 years, beloved wife of the late Steve Weisgerber.
