Cirque Italia is coming to Lethbridge with their family-friendly show, “Water Circus: Gold” waiting to entertain hundreds under their tent from Thursday to Sunday at the Lethbridge and District Exhibition.
Alex Acero, director, clown, host and comedian for the show told The Herald in a recent phone interview this is their first time in Canada and they cannot wait to bring the show here.
“We have a water stage that opens in half, it goes 30 feet high, we have 27 computers around, which are the ones that are in charge of the water designs and movements on the stage,” said Acero.
He explains that those in attendance don’t need to worry about getting wet because the water stays on the stage.
“We are bringing 17 performers from different countries, the show is one hour and 50 minutes long and the theme is from the 1950’s so we will have live music on stage,” said Acero.
Acero is a third-generation circus performer, but this is his first time in performing in Canada. He said when it comes to comments from people that have seen the show they usually say they have enjoyed the whole thing and it is hard to choose one thing in particular.
“We have so many acts that they love everything about the show, the music, the comedy, the acts. We had a person said to us that she bought her 12-year-old daughter cotton candy and she never ate it because she was so entertained watching the show that she forgot about it,” said Acero.
When talking about what people can expect to see, Acero said there will be a five-year-old little girl, who happens to be his daughter, who is watching television and her mom sends her to bed.
“I come out of the TV and since the show is about the 1950’s you’ll see a lot of rock and roll, Elvis Presley songs, Marilyn Monroe, little Johnny, all that kind of stuff,” said Acero.
He added there will be jugglers, bungee jumpers, an archer that shoots arrows at his wife holding an apple, acrobatics, interactions with those in attendance and a lot more.
“Come and see us, the stage that we have there is only three of it in the world, there is one in Dubai, one in Las Vegas and the one that we are bringing to your city,” said Acero.
