Magrath man dead in collision with semi

A 78-year-old Magrath man died Wednesday night when the sport utility vehicle he was driving struck a semi-trailer from behind on Highway 3 at the intersection of Highway 509.The semi driver was uninjured.
Coaldale RCMP said the initial investigation shows the semi was slowing and making a left turn when it was struck from behind by the SUV.
Eastbound traffic on Highway 3 was detoured onto Westview road from the crash site for several hours while police dealt with the situation. Westbound drivers saw a tarp over the SUV while the investigation was happening.
Police were notified of the collision at 6:14 p.m. on Wednesday. 2
