A Coaldale resident arrested last month for drug and weapon offences has been released from remand custody, pending a resolution of his charges.
Scott Eugene Conine, who on Thursday appeared in Lethbridge court of justice by CCTV from the Lethbridge Correctional Centre, was released on $1,000 cash bail and several conditions, including he report weekly to the Lethbridge Police Service, not possess any weapons, alcohol and drugs, and not have any contact with Robert John McDonald, who was also charged in the police bust last month.
At about 2:30 a.m. on Nov. 26, Coaldale RCMP received a report of a disturbance at a local residence. When officers arrived, two men were in a vehicle outside of the home. Police detained one of the men, who was the subject of a complaint, and after further investigation, the second man was also arrested.
Conine, 41, is charged with one count of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), and five counts of possession of a prohibited firearm.
McDonald, 44, a resident of Coaldale, is charged with single counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, careless use of a firearm, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
McDonald, who was represented by his lawyer Thursday and not required to attend court, was previously released from custody. Both men are scheduled to return to court Jan. 11.
