Cold winter forecast for province

Are you ready for some winter? While officially the season doesn’t start until Dec. 21, Canadians should probably start preparing early because the Farmers Almanac forecast could be a bit chilling.
Cold temperatures are being predicted for much of Alberta as well as Saskatchewan, Manitoba and the most western portions of Ontario.
The Almanac says that only our neighbouring province to the west can expect to experience near-normal temperatures in coming months along with seasonably wet conditions.
While southern Alberta desperately needs snowfall thanks to ongoing drought conditions this year and low water levels, the best place to find snow this winter will be in the region of the Great Lakes where above normal amounts of the white stuff are forecast. But the Almanac says during the first week of February, the Prairies and Rockies can expect some heavy snowfall.
The Prairie provinces can expect average snowfall along with very cold temperatures, says the Almanac. Stormy conditions are expected in March right across the country.
For the Prairies later this month, the Almanac is expecting rain or wet snow with weather turning stormy between the 28th and 30th.
In December, snow is forecast for the Rockies east to Manitoba early in the month with temperatures to turn colder by mid-month.
