Terry Fox Run set for Sunday
By Lethbridge Herald on September 14, 2023.
Forty-three years after Terry Fox dipped his prosthetic leg into the Atlantic Ocean on a chilly April morning and started his Marathon of Hope, his legacy is still honoured and remembered by Canadians across the country.
Fox never knew the impact he would have on Canada and how many people he inspired.
Terry’s mission continues with hundreds of Terry Fox Runs, thousands of school Runs, and millions of supporters across Canada and in more than 20 countries around the world.
When Terry stopped running, people started writing. Terry and his family received thousands of letters filled with support and encouragement. This year, the Terry Fox Foundation has asked Canadians to write to Terry. Already they have received countless postcards and messages on social media from Canadians thanking Terry for his courage and sharing their own very personal stories.
Lethbridge’s run will be held Sunday starting at the Legacy Park picnic shelter after a short welcoming ceremony. Registration starts at 10 a.m.
