Pottery sale remembers founding guild member

By Nicholas Allen - for the Lethbridge Herald on April 29, 2022.

A local pottery group opens its doors for a spring sale on pottery and ceramics this weekend.
The Oldman River Potters Guild is having a spring sale until April 30, showcasing local talent and a memorial and tribute to one of the guild’s long-time members.
According to guild member Donna Schenher they have been able to gather unique items you will be unable to find anywhere else from local artists.
“We have around 20 members taking part in the sale, with over 40 members altogether,” said Schenher.
The increase in membership required them to find a new space, a large building on the east side of Lethbridge with multiple uses. Schenher also said there is now an area that is always filled with pottery.
“The permanent storefront has really been a blessing,” said Schenher. “We have room to do classes without finding another space to set up for sales.”
In the permanent storefront, there is a memorial to founding member Elaine Harrison who passed away on March 24 of this year. It recognizes Harrison’s contributions and showcases some of her work and background in a display.
According to Schenher, Harrison was a part of every committee and was also a major part of the Oldman River Pottery Guild’s growth in the Lethbridge area.
Aside from being open on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the store is having extended hours for the spring sale. It is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
