Lethbridge’s Mission Thrift Store has a new pop-up location for shoppers looking for a holiday deal.
The Winter Wonderland Christmas Store is located at 2932 26th Avenue S. (former Sobey’s Liquor Store) and is open 11-4:30 p.m. Monday – Saturday. The store has been open at that location since Nov. 1, and has all manner of Christmas-related items on hand for purchase.
The location was bustling with shoppers browsing through holiday items on Tuesday afternoon, including a forest of Christmas trees.
Board chair Jack Hazelwood says that business has been good for the store since it moved out of a previous 6,000 square foot building into its current permanent 29,500 square foot location at 3001 32 Street S.
According to Hazelwood, this past year has been the best the store has ever done in terms of revenue, which exceeds $2,000,000 in 2021.
Mission Thrift Store Lethbridge has been operating since 1995. The store has a strong base of approximately 150 volunteers and always welcomes anyone new. As well as supporting the joint ministry of BFM Foundation (Canada) and Bible League Canada, the thrift store works locally with Streets Alive, Society of St. Vincent De Paul, the local homeless shelter and local churches.
The not-for-profit store provides 55 per cent of its revenue to the Bible League Canada.
