Environment Lethbridge planning Reuse Rendezvous for next month

Reuse Rendezvous is back!
After a one-year hiatus due to COVID-19 restrictions, Environment Lethbridge is running the program on Sept. 10-12.
The program, first launched by the City of Lethbridge in 2011, is now hosted by Environment Lethbridge and gives residents a chance to give away unwanted “gently used” items.
“We know many people have been eagerly awaiting the return of Reuse Rendezvous in 2021,” said Environment Lethbridge executive director Kathleen Sheppard in a press release.
“It’s also a great opportunity to find new-to-you treasures. For students returning for the fall semester, it’s the perfect way to furnish an apartment or dorm room.”
The program has grown every year. In 2015, 165 households were registered, a number that increased to 496 in 2019.
It’s estimated that more than 1,400 boxes of smaller items and almost 750 larger items, including furniture, were given away in 2018.
People participating should place items marked “Free” in front of their homes on the evening of Sept. 10. That weekend, people are being invited to cruise city streets, helping themselves to items. On the evening of Sept. 12, owners should reclaim items that weren’t taken.
People are also asked to be respectful of COVID-19 practices, including using hand sanitizer after visiting various locations and maintaining social distancing.
Residents are also asked to register their location on an online map hosted by Environment Lethbridge. More details are available at
