Live blues music will return to Lethbridge once more on Aug. 28 with the Coulee Blues Festival at Civic Centre Park.
The Coulee Blues Festival, co-sponsored by the Lethbridge Jazz Society and Geomatic Attic, will feature five distinctive performers. Legendary blues guitarist Jack Semple grew up on a farm north of Regina, and has been lighting up blues stages across North America for many years. Maverick and radical blues performers Satellite and the Harpoonist will bring their distinctive vibe to the Coulee Blues Festival audience. Kat Danser and the Tall Tales, hot off the release of the critically acclaimed album “One Eye Open,” will bring an eclectic and sultry mix to the day. Lethbridge based Paul Kype and Texas Flood will show off their virtuoso guitar skills and bring a rockin’ energy to the event. And The Rondel Roberts Band will electrify the stage with its strong instrumental jazz, soul and blues fusion style.
“We are just really thrilled to have this great event, and be able to celebrate,” confirmed Mike Spencer, owner of the Geomatic Attic.
“On a (scale of ) 1-10,” said Lethbridge Jazz Society president Mike Prociw, when asked to rate the excitement level he and his members are feeling at being able to host a live music event of this calibre after a year of COVID restrictions. “Ten. 10.5. It is very exciting to have these kinds of events.”
The concert runs from 1-7 p.m. on Aug. 28, and will be free of charge. The family friendly event will also feature food trucks and a beer garden.
