Man charged with firearm and drug-related offences

Police have charged a man with numerous firearm and drug-related offences.
Wednesday at about 7 p.m., members of the Lethbridge Police Service Priority Crimes Unit conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the 1700-block of 23 Street North after observing activities consistent with drug trafficking.
As a result of the investigation and subsequent search of the vehicle, police seized a loaded firearm and a conducted energy weapon that was masked as a flashlight. They also found methamphetamine, fentanyl and cocaine worth about $1,600, along with paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking including scales and packaging. A small amount of cash was also seized as proceeds of crime.
vWesley Johnson, 35, of Lethbridge, is facing a total of 28 charges including possession of a prohibited weapon, three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime. He is currently in custody awaiting a Judicial Interim Release Hearing.
