Drug charges laid after vehicle stop in Standoff

A police traffic stop in Standoff Tuesday resulted in the arrest of one man. The driver and lone occupant provided a false name and was found to not be a member of the Blood Tribe. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 60 grams of carfentanyl, 16 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of cocaine, estimated street value of $20,000.
46-year-old Marty Fransen of Barnwell has been charged for Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Carfentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine, Obstruction and Trespassing. Fransen remains in custody and awaits a bail hearing.
The Blood Tribe Police Service would like to remind individuals visiting the Blood Tribe to report to the Blood Tribe Administration Office in Standoff immediately and obtain the proper permits before going about their business. Those who are simply traveling through and not stopping are not required to obtain a permit.  More information on the Kainai/Blood Tribe Trespass Bylaw can be found on the administration website www.bloodtribe.org
