Newborn baby boy abandoned on porch of home on Montreal’s South Shore

LONGUEUIL — Police say a newborn baby boy was abandoned Sunday night outside a home on Montreal’s South Shore.

Longueuil police say someone left the boy on the porch of the home at around 11 p.m., rang the doorbell and fled.

The occupants found the baby and called 911.

Officer Jacqueline Pierre says police and paramedics provided care for the boy at the scene and transported the newborn to hospital.

Pierre says the baby is doing well.

Police spent the night at the scene collecting evidence, and have not identified the person who allegedly abandoned the baby.
