Carney to run in Ottawa riding of Nepean
By Canadian Press on March 22, 2025.
OTTAWA — Mark Carney will seek election as a Liberal MP in the House of Commons in the Ottawa riding of Nepean.
The Canadian Press has confirmed the move with two Liberal party sources with knowledge of the prime minister’s decision, who are not authorized to speak about it before it’s made public.
The riding has been held by Liberal MP Chandra Arya for the last decade, but the party recently revoked his nomination.
Carney will be running in a riding adjacent to his main rival, Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre, who is seeking re-election in the Ottawa-area riding of Carleton.
Carney is expected to visit Rideau Hall Sunday to ask Gov. Gen Mary Simon to dissolve Parliament and hold a spring federal election.
Voters will cast their ballots on April 28.
