OTTAWA – Military police say dangerous driving was a factor in what led a vehicle carrying four Royal Military College students plunging into the water near their campus in Kingston, Ont.
Officer cadets Jack Hogarth, Andrei Honciu, Broden Murphy and Andres Salek all drowned last April, weeks before they were poised to graduate.
The Canadian Forces National Investigation Service had previously ruled out foul play before providing another update in a statement today.
The CFNIS did not say who was driving the vehicle, which drove off the road and into the water at Point Frederick peninsula, where Lake Ontario meets the St. Lawrence River, on April 29, 2022.
Military police spokesman James Bresolin referred questions about who was driving the vehicle at the time to Ontario’s chief coroner’s office.
Department of National Defence spokeswoman Jessica Lamirande says the military has launched a review to prevent similar incidents in the future.
