A 24-year-old man from Bassano, who has not been identified by RCMP, faces several charges after his alleged involvement in two fights, one with police officers, as well as colliding his vehicle into a parked vehicle last Sunday night.

Mounties in Bassano responded to a report of a fight at a home between two males known to each other at approximately 11:30 p.m. on March 29.

The suspect then left the residence in a vehicle and collided with a parked vehicle and a hedge and fled the scene on foot.

Officers were quick to locate and arrest the man, who was uncooperative, and transferred him to the Brooks hospital for an assessment of injuries.

While at the hospital, the man became combative and began assaulting two attending officers.

He was required to stay in the hospital and was released with an upcoming court date of June 17.

The man has been charged with two counts of resisting and obstructing a police officer, two counts of assaulting a police officer, uttering threats and impaired operation of a motor vehicle.

The man has also received three violation tickets under the Traffic Safety Act for failure to remain on the scene after an accident, careless driving and driving while suspected.

The two officers were not injured during the altercation.
