With an event this big, the Medicine Hat Interpretive Program is getting ready early, inviting residents out to celebrate Earth Day. In partnership with the City of Medicine Hat parks and recreation department, MHIP says it is thrilled to host the fifth annual Earth Day celebration on Apr. 18, starting at 10a.m. at Police Point Park. “Earth Day is a global event that advocates for the health of the planet, for our air, oceans, soil, eco-systems, wildlife, and human health,” said MHIP. “While our event is taking place before the official international date, we are staying true to the subject of conservation with our theme – Waste Not, Want Not: Actions for a Circular Economy – where we will explore the topic of overconsumption.” This family friendly event will feature a series of activity stations, where participants can collect stamps for a chance to win prizes. In addition, while supplies last, those who participate in these activities or the city-wide Litter Blitz will be able to enjoy a first-come, first-served barbecue from 1:30-3:30 p.m. MHIP hopes to see everyone there for a day focused on the city, and planet, they live on. 6
