The City of Medicine Hat has set the 2026 schedule for its annual spring street sweeping program and will begin removing sanding materials and debris off streets on Mar. 30.

Crews will sweep arterial and collector roadways from Mar. 30 to Apr. 2 and then proceed to clearing school zones from Apr. 6-10.

After school zones have been cleared crews will loop back around to all arterial and collector roadways Apr. 13-24 to ensure they are completed.

Residential sweeping won’t begin until late April and will start with Zone 1 on Apr. 27 before moving on to Zone 2 for clearing. The city will provide more details on start dates for future residential areas once work is underway in Zone 1.

Throughout the evenings between March 30 and April 24 city crews will also conduct a series of sweeps throughout medians, bridges and boulevards to avoid traffic delays.

A full map of all 17 sweeping zones can be found on the city’s website. This map will be updated and will include requirements for parking and moving vehicles.

Street sweeping operations began Monday in Redcliff in Zone 1 and will continue through to Zone 6.

Town officials have released a similar map showing street cleaning zones and are asking residents to abide by all “No Parking” signage along streets to ensure operations run efficiently.
